Uncle Luke to Join Harris For Barber Shop Talk

On October 18, Kamala Harris will return to South Carolina for events in Orangeburg County, Aiken County, and Richland County. Harris will attend the “Orangeburg County Democratic Party Betty Henderson Elected Officials and Candidates Cook-Off,” celebrate Homecoming at South Carolina State University, the Palmetto State’s only public, four-year HBCU. She will also hold a town hall in Aiken and attend church services at Brookland Baptist Church.

The trip will culminate with a Barber Shop talk with Uncle Luke and South Carolina men about the everyday issues that affect their lives -- from health care to economic justice and criminal justice reform.

This will be Harris’ twelfth trip to South Carolina as a presidential candidate. In addition to attending Congressman Clyburn’s World Famous Fish Fry and speaking at the SCDP convention, she has previously held town halls and meet and greets in several locations across the state including Anderson, Bluffton, Charleston, Columbia, Florence, Greenville, Hartsville, Hemingway, Holly Hill, Myrtle Beach, Orangeburg, Rock Hill, St. George, and Spartanburg.

She has also visited several women-owned businesses, stopped by Rodney Scott’s BBQ for lunch, given the keynote address at the Columbia and Charleston NAACP Freedom Fund dinners, headlined the Charleston County Democrats’ Blue Jamboree, participated in the Planned Parenthood Action forum on reproductive rights, addressed the Charleston Black Expo, and attended the Pink Ice Gala with her fellow AKAs in Columbia. Harris has also attended church services in South Carolina in Columbia, North Charleston, and Florence.

New Donald Trump TV Ad “Facts”

Trump Campaign Ad Hits Biden on Ukraine, Hunter’s Sweetheart Job

President Trump’s re-election campaign today launched a new television ad again highlighting Joe Biden’s pressuring of Ukraine to fire a prosecutor looking into the company where his son Hunter worked. The ad notes that the Democrats cannot hope to defeat President Trump in 2020 so they are attempting to remove him from office instead.

The spot will be mixed into an existing national ad buy totaling $7 million the campaign previously announced. This ad will also be mixed into a $1 million buy covering local stations in New Hampshire, Iowa, Nevada, and South Carolina. Combined with a separate $2 million buy made by the Republican National Committee with different ads, the total buy is $10 million.

DNC Announces Details For Fifth Democratic Presidential Primary Debate

MSNBC, The Washington Post to host fifth Democratic presidential primary debate in Georgia on November 20

Today, the DNC announced that MSNBC and The Washington Post will co-host the fifth Democratic presidential primary debate, which will be held in Georgia on November 20. The debate will also be carried live on Urban One. The deadline for qualifying polls and donations for the November debate will be November 13 at 11:59pm. Venue, format and moderators will be announced at a future date.

The debate will air live exclusively on MSNBC, and livestream across NBC News and MSNBC digital platforms on the web, mobile and connected TVs and on The Washington Post web and mobile apps. In addition to Urban One, the debate will also be available in audio through SiriusXM Channel 118, and TuneIn. Broadcast partners are fully committed to providing accessible communications for deaf and disabled audiences as well.

QUALIFICATION CRITERIA FOR THE NOVEMBER DEMOCRATIC PRESIDENTIAL PRIMARY DEBATE

To qualify for the November debate, candidates must meet one of two polling requirements (“Polling Threshold”) and the unique donor requirement (“Grassroots Fundraising Threshold”) as detailed below.

Polling Threshold. To meet the Polling Threshold for the Organization Debate, candidates must meet either the “Four-Poll Threshold” or the “Early State Polling Threshold” as described below:

Four-Poll Threshold. Receive 3% or more support in at least four polls (which may be national polls, or single-state polls in Iowa, New Hampshire, South Carolina, and/or Nevada) meeting the Qualifying Poll Criteria described below. To meet the Four-Poll Threshold, each one of a candidate’s four qualifying polls must be sponsored by different Qualifying Poll Sponsors, or if by the same Qualifying Poll Sponsor, must be in different geographical areas.

Early State Polling Threshold. Receive 5% or more support in two single-state polls in Iowa, New Hampshire, South Carolina and/or Nevada that meet the Qualifying Poll Criteria described below. To meet the Early State Polling Threshold, any candidate’s two qualifying polls may be in the same or different geographical areas and from the same or different Qualifying Poll Sponsors.

For a poll to be counted towards the Four-Poll Threshold or Early State Polling Threshold, it must meet each of the four requirements described below (“Qualifying Poll Criteria”):

Each poll must be sponsored by one of the following 15 entities or pairs of entities (“Qualifying Poll Sponsors”): Associated Press; ABC News/Washington Post; CBS News/YouGov; CNN; Des Moines Register; Fox News; Monmouth University; National Public Radio; NBC News/Wall Street Journal; NBC News/Marist; New York Times; Quinnipiac University; University of New Hampshire; USA Today/Suffolk University; Winthrop University. For individual entities that are included only in Qualifying Poll Sponsor pairs but are not listed individually, independent polling by such individual entities or polling conducted in new partnerships with such individual entities shall not meet the Qualifying Poll Criteria. The DNC reserves the right to add a Nevada-specific poll sponsor to this list in the near future.

Each poll must be publicly released between September 13, 2019 and 11:59 P.M. on November 13, 2019.
Each poll’s candidate support question must have been conducted by reading or presenting a list of Democratic presidential primary candidates to respondents. Poll questions using an open-ended or un-aided question to gauge presidential primary support will not count.

Each polling result must be the top-line number listed in the original public release from the approved Qualifying Poll Sponsor, whether or not it is a rounded or weighted number.

Grassroots Fundraising Threshold. To meet the Grassroots Fundraising Threshold, candidates must submit a certification, executed by the candidate’s campaign Treasurer, by 11 A.M. on the day that marks six days before the date of the November debate demonstrating that the campaign has received donations from at least (1) 165,000 unique donors; and (2) a minimum of 600 unique donors per state in at least 20 U.S. states, U.S. territories, or the District of Columbia. Qualifying donations must be received by 11:59 P.M. on November 13, 2019. An acceptable certification must provide or attach adequate verifiable evidence to show that the fundraising threshold has been reached and may include verification from ActBlue or NGP VAN regarding the campaign’s fundraising.

109-Year-Old Ruth Knelman Supports Amy Klobuchar for President

MINNEAPOLIS, MN — Today, Senator Amy Klobuchar released a video from 109-year-old supporter Ruth Knelman. Born in 1910 — 10 years before women won the right to vote — Ruth has lived through 18 presidents and now wholeheartedly supports Senator Klobuchar’s bid for the White House.

In the video, Ruth says, “There’s one thing that would complete my life. If Amy was President and that she would invite me and a friend to the ceremony!” Ruth says she plans to be “around for a long time” and is ready to fly out for Klobuchar’s inauguration.

On social media Klobuchar jokingly challenged her opponents in the Democratic field to top Ruth’s endorsement. “Game on,” she said.
