President Donald J. Trump’s re-election campaign is taking to the skies over Atlanta and the pages of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution today to blast Democrat plans to wreck the American economy. The Trump campaign plans aerial advertising via airplane flyover as well as a full-color, full-page ad in the newspaper on the same day Democrats descend on Atlanta for yet another of their primary debates. 

The flyover will feature a massive banner reading “DEMOCRATS’ SOCIALISM WILL DESTROY ATLANTA JOBS” and will take place from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and from 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. eastern time.

The newspaper ad rips Democrat plans for eliminating jobs by targeting the energy industry, ending employer-provided health insurance, and raising taxes on almost all Americans.  The ad also highlights the President’s accomplishments on the economy, including the creation of over six million new jobs and achieving historically low unemployment figures.

California Democratic Party 2020 Delegate Selection Plan Guide
The Democratic National Convention is July 13-16, 202 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

OVERVIEW
The California Delegation will send a total of 495 Delegates and 35 Alternates to the Democratic National Convention in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The total delegation will be comprised of 416 Pledged Delegates and 35 Alternates and 79 Unpledged Delegates. Each state must have a delegation which is 50% self-identified female, 50% other than self-identified female or within one, and must have a Delegate Selection Plan that includes Affirmative Action Goals (quotas are prohibited).

Who can be a Delegate – Only Registered Democrats (Party Preference) can participate.

Who can attend meetings – All steps in the delegate selection process are open to the Press and the Public.

HOW PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATES ARE ALLOCATED PLEDGED DELEGATES
Candidates are allocated District-Level Delegates in each Congressional District in which they receive 15% or more of the primary vote and those candidates who receive 15% or more of the statewide vote are allocated PLEO and At-Large Delegates. If Candidate A receives 50% of the statewide vote, then Candidate A gets 50% of the 90 At-Large Delegates and 50% of the 54 PLEO Delegates. UNPLEDGED DELEGATES – 79 Total
California’s Democratic members of the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate, Governor Brown and members of the Democratic National Committee (DNC) are all automatic delegates to the National Convention.

DISTRICT-LEVEL DELEGATES – 272 Delegates and 35 Alternates
Each of California’s 53 Congressional Districts (CDs) are allocated from 4 to 11 District-Level delegates, based on population and presidential voting from the 2012 & 2016 elections. Using the same criteria, 26 of the 53 CDs are also allocated 1 Alternate each. Potential candidates for District-Level Delegates must submit Form A, pledging their support to a Presidential Candidate, during the filing period of January 6 through March 3. Caucuses will be held April 19 in each CD where Democrats registered in the CD will be able to vote to slate delegates.

AT-LARGE (i.e. STATEWIDE) DELEGATES – 106 Delegates and 11 Alternates
Any registered Democrat who is committed to a candidate can apply to be an At-Large Delegate by filing Form B during the filing period of February 7 through April 21. At-Large Delegates are confirmed by a vote of the 271 District-Level Delegates at the May 2020 Statewide Delegation Meeting.

PLEDGED PARTY LEADERS AND ELECTED OFFICIAL (PLEO) – 54 Total
A PLEO is a registered Democrat from the categories below. No elected official or party leader is automatically a PLEO Delegate. In order to be considered for one of the 54 PLEO Delegate spots, an individual must file Form C, pledging their support to a presidential candidate who received at least 15% or more of the statewide primary vote. PLEO Delegates are confirmed by a vote of the 271 District-Level Delegates at the May 2020 Statewide Delegation Meeting.

Secretary Castro will talk criminal justice reform, meet with advocates

SAN ANTONIO, TX (November 19, 2019) – Presidential candidate, former Obama Secretary of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and Mayor of San Antonio, Texas, Julián Castro will return to Iowa on Saturday and Sunday with events in Cedar Rapids, Waterloo, Storm Lake and Sioux City.

On Saturday, Secretary Castro will join members of the Iowa Harm Reduction Coalition in Cedar Rapids for a roundtable to discuss issues related to drug policy and criminal justice reform. He will speak at the Black Hawk County Democrats annual Hall of Fame dinner on Saturday evening.

DES MOINES, IA — The John Delaney campaign will hit a milestone this week when Delaney returns to Iowa for his 40th trip as a candidate for President. The campaign has been hiring new field staff over the last few weeks and have signed up many volunteer “Precinct Captains” to lead our efforts across the state towards strong results in the February 3rd Iowa Caucuses.

"I’m excited to be in Iowa continuing my Heartland tour, speaking with Iowans about concerns over their economic future. We need to focus on the importance of encouraging investments in rural areas. Business investment has not been coming to rural Iowa, as a result these areas have been shrinking and aging and young people are leaving to find employment elsewhere. We need to both encourage and help small businesses so that we can stem the flight from rural areas and stimulate economic development. New Tom Steyer Ad Calls for Term Limits to Help End Corporate Control of Congress
The ad will air in all four early states and will include digital ads across all campaign platforms

(SAN FRANCISCO, November 19, 2019) — Today, presidential Democratic candidate Tom Steyer rolled out a new ad calling for term limits in Congress to put power back in the hands of the American people. This comes after Mr. Steyer pushed for term limits and a national referendum last night on the Daily Show with Trevor Noah.

The ad is part of Steyer’s Structural Reforms agenda. It comes as part of a campaign wide commitment highlighting how Tom’s the only candidate in the race talking about bold reforms such as term limits and a national referendum to increase voter participation, end business as usual in Washington, and break the corporate stranglehold on our government.

The ad will air locally in all four early primary and caucus states: Iowa, New Hampshire, South Carolina, and Nevada. The campaign is also running digital ads.

Campaign’s African American and Latinx Steering Committee leaders hold events statewide

Senator Kamala Harris’ campaign will host more than 50 debate watch parties across Iowa during the fifth Democratic debate on Wednesday, November 20. Excited caucusgoers and volunteers will gather to root for Harris at these watch parties in the homes of supporters, local businesses, campaign field offices, and more.

Many of the debate watch parties will begin with volunteer leaders meeting for a caucus night strategy session. Members of Harris’ African American and Latinx Steering Committees will also host “Unbought and Unbossed” and “Para La Gente” watch parties engaging the African American and Latinx communities in different parts of the state.
