MANCHESTER — Bennet for America today launched a new television ad in New Hampshire to demonstrate why Michael Bennet is the best candidate to beat Donald Trump and move the country forward. The ad — named “Two Weeks at a Time” for Bennet’s most viral tweet — makes clear why he is the opposite of Donald Trump: As president, he’ll keep his head down and work hard so Americans can raise their families and live their lives.

Last week, the campaign announced it achieved its $700,000 New Hampshire Investment Strategy, a fundraising goal set one month ago to build the resources to compete in New Hampshire, including an expanded TV and digital buy for this new ad. The campaign’s advertising investment in New Hampshire will reach six figures this week and includes its first TV ad — “Opposite of Trump” — as well as the “Just the Truth” digital series on Bennet’s personal story, experiences in leadership and service, and motivations underlying his run for president.

“Voters are asking one question in this election: Who can beat Donald Trump?” said Bennet for America spokesperson Shannon Beckham. “To beat Trump, we need the opposite of Trump, and Michael represents that in every way. People are exhausted by the chaos and uncertainty from the Oval Office, and they are looking for a candidate who will bring steady leadership back to Washington.”

The tweet, which received more than 40,000 likes and retweets, was covered by outlets ranging from the Associated Press and Washington Post to MSNBC’s Morning Joe and The Daily Show. As the Associated Press wrote, “Bennet is tying his candidacy to perhaps the most audacious proposition of all, that voters may actually crave the opposite of the relentlessly turbulent tenure of Trump.” The Daily Show’s Trevor Noah described it as “a really interesting pitch because basically what you are saying is, ‘Vote for me because I’ll get the job done.’” MSNBC’s Willie Geist said Bennet “effectively made the most compelling case of the 2020 race.”

Last month, Bennet announced his commitment to hold 50 town halls in New Hampshire during the final 10 weeks before the First in the Nation primary. With his tally at 38 town halls since then, Bennet is tied for the most events in the state. The campaign has also announced new endorsements recently, including famed strategist James Carville, former Cory Booker supporter State Rep. Bob Backus, and two former chairs of Concord’s school board.

New Hampshire State Senator and Union Leader Kevin Cavanaugh Endorses Elizabeth Warren

Manchester, NH – This morning, New Hampshire State Senator Kevin Cavanaugh endorsed Elizabeth Warren for president and will be hosting campaign events though the primary.

Cavanaugh serves as a New Hampshire State Senator, the Manchester Ward 1 Alderman, and is a longtime union leader and activist. He will work with New Hampshire for Warren to talk to voters about why Elizabeth is the best candidate to defeat Donald Trump and launch canvass kickoffs and other organizing events over the next 21 days through the First In The Nation primary.

“Elizabeth is the voice working families need in the White House,” said State Senator Kevin Cavanuagh. “Her record of getting things done to help all Americans – both in the US Senate and before she even held public office – should convince all Granite Staters to support her. In a special election in 2017, Cavanaugh defeated the Repulican incumbent by 11 points. In 2018, Cavanaugh's re-election would be part of a blue wave that would return both chambers of state legislature to the Democrats. He is a leading Democratic voice in the State legislature and labor movement.

In his tenure in the statehouse, Cavanaugh has been a champion of labor unions and New Hampshire’s working families, spotlighting issues such as advancing workers’ rights, workforce development opportunities, and raising the minimum wage, which has stagnated at $7.25, the same as it was in 2009 and significantly lower than in neighboring states, due to Republican Governor Sununu’s veto.

DNC Announces Qualification Criteria For New Hampshire Democratic Presidential Primary Debate

The DNC and ABC today released the qualification criteria for participation in the eighth Democratic presidential primary debate, which will air on ABC, in partnership with WMUR-TV and Apple News. There will be two pathways to qualification for the New Hampshire debate. To qualify for the New Hampshire debate stage, candidates may qualify either by (1) meeting a delegate threshold based on the results of the Iowa caucuses, or (2) by meeting both a polling requirement and a grassroots fundraising requirement. Qualifying polls for the New Hampshire debate will include national polling and polling in New Hampshire, Nevada and South Carolina. A candidate’s support in Iowa will be reflected through the results of the Iowa caucus instead of Iowa-specific polling. The deadline for qualifying polls and donations is February 6 at 11:59 P.M. Eastern Time.

The official threshold rules are below:

QUALIFICATION CRITERIA FOR THE 2020 DEMOCRATIC PRESIDENTIAL PRIMARY DEBATE IN NEW HAMPSHIRE

To qualify for the February 7, 2020 Democratic presidential primary debate in New Hampshire (“New Hampshire Debate”), candidates must meet the “Delegate Threshold” or the “Alternate Threshold,” as detailed below.

I. Delegate Threshold. To meet the Delegate Threshold for the New Hampshire Debate, candidates must have been allocated at least one pledged delegate to the Democratic National Convention (“National Convention Delegate”) from the state of Iowa based on the results of the February 3rd, 2020 Iowa caucuses, as reported and calculated by the Iowa Democratic Party.

II. Alternate Threshold. To meet the Alternate Threshold for the New Hampshire Debate, candidates must meet the Polling Requirement and the Grassroots Fundraising Threshold as detailed below.

a. Polling Requirement. To meet the Polling Requirement for the New Hampshire Debate, candidates must meet either the “Four-Poll Threshold” or the “Early State Polling Threshold” as described below:

• Four-Poll Threshold. Receive 5% or more support in at least four polls (which may be national polls, or single-state polls in New Hampshire, South Carolina, and/or Nevada) meeting the Qualifying Poll Criteria described below. To meet the Four-Poll Threshold, each one of a candidate’s four qualifying polls must be sponsored by different Qualifying Poll Sponsors, or if by the same Qualifying Poll Sponsor, must be in different geographical areas.

• Early State Polling Threshold. Receive 7% or more support in two single-state polls in New Hampshire, South Carolina and/or Nevada that meet the Qualifying Poll Criteria described below. To meet the Early State Polling Threshold, any candidate’s two qualifying polls may be in the same or different geographical areas and from the same or different Qualifying Poll Sponsors.

For a poll to be counted towards the Four-Poll Threshold or Early State Polling Threshold, it must meet each of the four requirements described below (“Qualifying Poll Criteria”):

• Each poll must be sponsored by one of the following 15 entities or pairs of entities (“Qualifying Poll Sponsors”): Associated Press; ABC News/Washington Post; CBS News/YouGov; CNN; Fox News; Monmouth University; NPR/PBS Newshour/Marist; NBC News/Wall Street Journal; NBC News/Marist; New York Times/Siena College; Nevada Independent/Mellman Group; Quinnipiac University; University of New Hampshire; USA Today/Suffolk University; Winthrop University. For individual entities that are included only in Qualifying Poll Sponsor pairs but are not listed individually, independent polling by such individual entities or polling conducted in new partnerships with such individual entities shall not meet the Qualifying Poll Criteria. The DNC reserves the right to add a Nevada-specific poll sponsor and/or a South Carolina-specific poll sponsor to this list in the near future.

• Each poll must be publicly released between December 13, 2019 and 11:59 P.M. Eastern Time on February 6, 2020.

• Each poll’s candidate support question must have been conducted by reading or presenting a list of Democratic presidential primary candidates to respondents. Poll questions using an open-ended or un-aided question to gauge presidential primary support will not count.

• Each polling result must be the top-line number listed in the original public release from the approved Qualifying Poll Sponsor, whether or not it is a rounded or weighted number.

b. Grassroots Fundraising Threshold. To meet the Grassroots Fundraising Threshold, candidates must submit a certification, executed by the candidate’s campaign Treasurer, by 9:00 AM Eastern Time on February 7, 2020, demonstrating that the campaign has received donations from at least (1) 225,000 unique donors; and (2) a minimum of 1,000 unique donors per state in at least 20 U.S. states, U.S. territories, or the District of Columbia. Qualifying donations must be received by 11:59 P.M. Eastern Time on February 6, 2020. An acceptable certification must provide or attach adequate verifiable evidence to show that the fundraising threshold has been reached and may include verification from ActBlue or NGP VAN regarding the campaign’s fundraising.

MANCHESTER — Environmental activist and attorney and New Hampshire State Representative Bob Backus today endorsed Michael Bennet for President of the United States. He had previously endorsed Cory Booker's campaign. Backus has represented the Hillsborough 19 district since 2012. He serves on the Committee on Science, Technology, and Energy.

“He’s not as young as Mayor Pete, he’s not as old as some of the other candidates, and I kind of like that,” Backus said in a video statement. “He’s got great experience as the school superintendent in Denver and a strong record in the Senate, and he’s got thoughtful positions.”

Bennet represents Colorado in the Senate, but he has not spent a lifetime in politics. He turned around failing businesses in the private sector and improved outcomes for kids as superintendent of the Denver Public Schools. Bennet is the only candidate in this race who has won two elections in a swing state. Manchester, NH — Today, U.S. Representative Annie Kuster announced her endorsement of Pete Buttigieg for president of the United States, citing Pete’s ability to unify the country and his bold solutions to our greatest challenges.

Rep. Kuster, who was an early backer of then-Senator Barack Obama in 2007, will also serve as a national campaign co-chair of Pete For America.

On Friday morning, Rep. Kuster will introduce Buttigieg at a town hall in Concord. Rep. Kuster first joined Buttigieg in April at Gibson’s Bookstore, where she helped introduce him to Granite Staters. This fall in New London, she joined Buttigieg for an armchair discussion on his policy to empower women and break down the systemic barriers that have held women back. Rep. Kuster was first elected to the House of Representatives in November 2012. Prior to taking office, she served as a longtime community activist and adoption attorney. Broad coalition of current, retired, and former union members declare their support for Elizabeth Warren and her plans to benefit working families

Manchester, NH – This morning, more than 100 current and former New Hampshire labor leaders and union members announced or affirmed their support for Elizabeth Warren as the 2020 Democratic nominee for President. The broad coalition is all in for Elizabeth Warren because of her commitment to putting power in the hands of working people as President, her plans to empower workers, and her ability to build coalitions and make real change. This support follows the American Federation of Teachers Massachusetts and the Boston Teachers Union endorsing Elizabeth Warren on Monday.

“Across the country, including here in New Hampshire, workers’ wages have largely stagnated,” said Representative Pat Long of Manchester. “Elizabeth Warren sees that unions have less power than they used to in negotiating compensation for workers – that’s what has led to workers having less, and corporate executives having more. Her plan would strengthen and protect collective bargaining rights, and in turn strengthen unions and rebuild our middle class.”

Elizabeth’s plan to empower workers is the most progressive and comprehensive agenda for workers since the New Deal. She will extend labor rights to all workers and expand protections for part-time workers; prohibit so-called “right to work” laws; strengthen organizing, collective bargaining, and the right to strike; increase worker choice and control; and expand worker protections, combat discrimination, and improve enforcement of labor laws. She will also ban non-compete agreements, empower workers of billion-dollar companies to elect 40% of their company’s board members, and amend federal law to promote sectoral bargaining across industries.

As she penned in an Op-Ed late last year, her plan will help workers in New Hampshire by ending worker misclassification, raising the minimum wage, and reviving Obama-era overtime rules.
