Secretary Julián Castro Returns to Iowa to Discuss Gun Violence, Affordable Housing *Updated
SAN ANTONIO, TX (August 10, 2019) – Next week, on August 13th and 14th, presidential candidate, former Obama Secretary of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and Mayor of San Antonio, Texas, Julián Castro will travel to Iowa for a town hall on affordable housing, a meet-and-greet in Marshalltown, and address a town hall on his plan to disarm hate by combating white nationalism and gun violence. After spending three days in Iowa with his family for the state fair and Iowa Democratic Wing Ding, Secretary Castro is returning Tuesday for his tenth trip to the first-in-the-nation caucus state since announcing his candidacy.
On Tuesday, August 13, Secretary Castro will participate in a town hall on affordable housing in Des Moines, and a meet-and-greet with local residents in Marshalltown. Secretary Castro will discuss recent mass shootings and his plan to disarm hate by combating white nationalism and the gun violence epidemic on Wednesday, August 14.
