Inslee to Tour Iowa Flood Damage on Friday
Governor Inslee will visit with climate victims, flood assistance volunteers, and community members
Seattle – Next Friday, Governor Jay Inslee will visit communities in Iowa that have been recently affected by record-breaking floods intensified by climate change.
Inslee will travel to Hamburg, Iowa, on Friday, April 12th where he will tour damage from recent flooding and meet with impacted Iowans. Inslee will be guided on the tour by John Davis, a climate analyst whose house was submerged by the flood. Inslee will view homes, roads, and other infrastructure damaged and destroyed by flooding. He will then visit a flood assistance service center to meet with volunteers and learn about how they are helping those in need and responding to the disaster.
Later, Inslee will travel to Council Bluffs, where he will discuss climate change and his campaign with local Democrats and community members.
Inslee, who is the only presidential candidate who has made defeating climate change the cornerstone of his campaign, has been making stops to speak with voters across the country as part of his “Climate Mission Tour.” Since launching his campaign in March, he has visited Iowa, New Hampshire, Nevada, Texas, California, New York, and Oregon.
