Julián Castro Returns to Iowa for Steak Fry, to Talk with Students About Climate Change and Visit Rural Farmers **Updated
SAN ANTONIO, TX (September 13, 2019) – Next week, former Obama Secretary of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and Mayor of San Antonio, Texas, Julián Castro will return to Iowa for his 12th trip as a presidential candidate to attend a student-led climate change forum, LGBTQ Forum, the Polk County Democrats Steak Fry, and for a sit-down conversation with farmers in rural Iowa.
On Friday, students across the country will participate in a Global Climate Strike to bring attention to climate change. At Linn-Mar High School, students will participate in the strike by moderating a forum with Secretary Castro and inviting students to ask questions about his plans to tackle climate change. Later that evening, he will join other candidates at a LGBTQ Presidential Forum in Cedar Rapids.
Secretary Castro will join supporters for a rally on Saturday before the Polk County Democrats annual Steak Fry, and will be the first candidate to march into the event with supporters. After the Steak Fry, Secretary Castro will join Iowa Citizens for Community Improvement for their People’s Action candidate forum.
On Sunday, Secretary Castro will visit a farm in rural Iowa to meet with farmers and residents, and hear from them about their priorities, needs and concerns.
