Senator Kirsten Gillibrand Builds Out Iowa Campaign Team
Announces Two New Hires After Successful Eastern Iowa Swing
Today, the Gillibrand 2020 Exploratory Committee announced two new senior staff hires in Iowa on the heels of her successful swing through eastern Iowa on Presidents Day. Casey Clemmons will serve as Iowa Caucus Director and Haley Barbour will serve as Political Director, building out Sen. Gillibrand's senior Iowa team ahead of Iowa's first-in-the-nation presidential caucuses.
“After an incredible swing through eastern Iowa meeting with caucus-goers, we are excited to announce new hires to expand our Iowa team," said Gillibrand Iowa Communications Director Rachel Irwin. “Senator Gillibrand is committed to talking to as many Iowans as possible in every corner of the state. We are thrilled to bring on board Casey and Haley, who will guide our efforts to compete in this critical early state and build a robust operation to be successful in the 2020 caucuses.
Casey Clemmons - Caucus Director
Casey Clemmons most recently served as the get-out-the-vote director for the Iowa Democratic Party's 2018 coordinated campaign. Earlier in the cycle, he served as field director for Florida gubernatorial candidate Gwen Graham's primary campaign and Cook County organizing director for now Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker's primary campaign. Prior to that, Clemmons was a member of Hillary Clinton's Iowa caucus and Iowa general election field team, Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel's 2015 campaign, Illinois Senator Dick Durbin's 2014 campaign, and President Barack Obama's 2012 campaign. Clemmons hails from Woodstock, Illinois and attended DePaul University.
Haley Barbour - Political Director
Haley Barbour is a graduate of Drake University who recently served as the Deputy Finance Director of Fred Hubbell's gubernatorial campaign, considered the most expensive gubernatorial race in the state’s history. In that role, Barbour organized and executed events across Iowa. Previously, she worked as an organizer for the Iowa Democratic Party in 2016 and as an intern on Staci Appel's race in Iowa's 3rd Congressional District in 2014. She is originally from Kansas City, Missouri and has been active in Iowa politics since 2013.

SAN ANTONIO, TX (February 14, 2019) – On Thursday, February 21 to Saturday, February 23, presidential candidate, and former Obama Secretary of Housing and Urban Development and San Antonio Mayor, Julián Castro, will make his first trip as a candidate to Iowa, the first-in-the-nation caucus state. Delaney Announces New Iowa Democratic County Chair Endorsement
Ahead of multi-presidential candidate event in Monroe County on February 17th, Delaney picks up endorsement from neighboring county’s Democratic Chair
DES MOINES, IA – John Delaney announced a new endorsement today from Iowa’s Lucas County Democratic Party Chair and newly-elected Lucas County Caucus Chair Joan Amos. Chair Amos’ support continues a surge of early endorsements from three Iowa Democratic County Chairs in counties spanning the state.
“My husband John and I believe that John Delaney is the best candidate to stand up against Donald Trump, bring our country together, and really get things done in Washington,” said Chair Amos. “John Delaney’s policies will improve people’s lives and can get passed right away. We intend to caucus for him, and we encourage fellow Democrats to look into his policies and hear him speak.”
Delaney is the first Democratic presidential candidate to have visited all 99 Iowa counties since 2008. He is drawing attention for his unique bipartisan approaches that aim to quickly pass legislation for universal healthcare, universal pre-k and community college, climate change, automation, and infrastructure. He has six field offices in Iowa and has made more than 20 visits to the state.
KAMALA HARRIS TO HOLD ANKENY AND SCOTT COUNTY TOWN HALLS, EVENTS IN CENTRAL AND EASTERN IOWA
Harris Will Campaign in Des Moines, Ankeny, Waterloo, Bettendorf, and Cedar Rapids
Senator Kamala Harris will make her second trip to Iowa as a Democratic presidential candidate February 23-24, where she will hold town hall meetings in Ankeny and Scott County, speak at an event hosted by the Iowa Democratic Party Black Caucus, and participate in several community conversations. This trip will be another opportunity for Iowans to hear directly from Harris about her vision for America and ask her questions about important issues.

On Saturday evening, Harris will keynote an Iowa Democratic Party Black Caucus event. On Sunday, she will participate in a meet and greet and worship at Mount Carmel Missionary Baptist Church in Waterloo. She will then hold a town hall in Scott County. In the evening in Cedar Rapids, she will participate in an event moderated by the hosts of Political Party Live, a local podcast hosted by Iowa Democrats with a live audience.
Harris recently announced additional staff dedicated to Iowa as she ramps up her operation ahead of the caucuses. Harris’s Iowa visit will be the third of four trips to important early states this month. She visited South Carolina this past weekend, and will travel to New Hampshire February 18-19 and Nevada February 28-March 1.
