Former Representative Mike Blouin of Dubuque Endorses Joe Biden for President

Des Moines, Iowa – Today, former Rep. Mike Blouin of Dubuque endorsed Joe Biden for President. In his endorsement, Rep. Blouin emphasized Vice President Biden’s faith, experience, and vision for a better future.

“With Joe Biden, what you see is what you get. I see a kind, decent, and empathetic man of faith and character who can be our Commander-in-Chief on day one,” said Blouin. “Throughout his career, Joe Biden has transformed bold, progressive ideas into real legislative achievements. As a fellow Catholic, I know Joe is guided by his faith and the belief that we ought to lift everybody up, especially our most vulnerable brothers and sisters. And at the end of the day, nothing is more important in this election than defeating Donald Trump – and Joe Biden is the only candidate who has what it takes to beat Trump like a drum.”

Previously, Blouin was a member of the U.S. House of Representatives, Iowa House of Representatives, and Iowa State Senate, and ran for governor of Iowa in 2006. He also served in the administration of President Jimmy Carter, as the first-ever director of the Information Security Oversight Office and as assistant director of the Office of Community Action; and in the administration of Governor Tom Vilsack, as head of the Iowa Department of Economic Development.

Blouin’s support reflects the campaign’s continued momentum across Iowa and key early states, and builds on rock steady support for Vice President Biden across the country.

In recent days, Biden won the backing of Bill Gerhard, President of the Iowa State Building and Construction Trades Council; as well as of former Senators Bob Kerrey of Nebraska and Chris Dodd of Connecticut; and of 51 current and former elected officials from across the state of Massachusetts, a sign of the campaign’s strength in neighboring New Hampshire.

To date, Biden for President has announced more than 550 endorsements from national, state, and local leaders, including current and former U.S. senators and representatives, governors, state elected officials, and community leaders.

DES MOINES, IOWA — Beto O’Rourke will return to Iowa this week for the Iowa Democratic Party’s Liberty and Justice Celebration and follow it up with a four-day tour highlighting the campaign’s momentum across the Hawkeye State. Beto’s four-day tour will take him across central and eastern Iowa to highlight his vision for the country.

On his last trip, Beto hosted a packed town hall at Cornell College, his first visit to the campus. On Thursday morning he hosted a roundtable discussion with the Iowa Harm Reduction Coalition (IHRC) about his new opioids policy. He got a standing ovation at LULAC’s Presidential Town Hall, the first-ever gathering of hundreds of Latino caucus-goers. On Friday morning, he held an assembly at North High School in Des Moines, one of the most diverse high schools in Des Moines Public Schools.

As the vast majority of Iowans remain undecided on who to support in the upcoming Caucuses, Beto remains well-positioned to surge this fall, including in next week’s Iowa Democratic Party’s Liberty and Justice Celebration. Beto has been shown to have support with Latino caucus-goers and students, with one recent article spotlighting his support among young Latinos.

He will draw on his ten years of service on the Senate Agriculture Committee and his field-leading climate plan — the first to put farmers front and center in the fight against climate change — in his visit to Union County, which sustained $1.7 million in flood damages this spring alone.

Bennet, whose home state of Colorado is an even mix of Democrats, Republicans, and Independents, has focused his efforts on winning back voters who left the Democratic Party in 2016 and who are critical for taking the White House and Senate and holding the House in 2020.

DES MOINES, Iowa — Andrew Yang is heading to Iowa next week to speak at the premier Iowa Democratic Party event, the Liberty and Justice Celebration. Ahead of the event, he’ll be hosting Yangapalooza, a pre-event concert featuring the band Weezer. Lead singer Rivers Cuomo was an early supporter of the campaign and is excited to put on a show for the Yang Gang in Des Moines.

The Liberty and Justice Celebration will be one of the largest shows of force in the Iowa Democratic Party’s history. Andrew is excited to speak to a large number of Democratic activists in the state and lay out his bold vision for an economy that puts Humanity First.

Opening for Weezer will be Kyle Christensen, playing on a guitar he purchased with the Freedom Dividend being provided to him by Andrew.

DES MOINES, IA –– After the Iowa Democratic Party’s Liberty and Justice Celebration in Des Moines, Pete Buttigieg will kick off a three-day bus tour across northern Iowa. The bus will be open press and on-the-record –– Pete will ride the bus with credentialed media for several legs of the trip.

After events around the Liberty and Justice Celebration, the tour will start on Saturday, November 2 in Cedar Rapids after Representative Abby Finkenauer’s Fish Fry and make stops in Decorah, Waverly, Charles City, Mason City, Algona, and Spencer. The tour ends on November 4 in Spencer. Additional stops and logistics about the trip will be announced in the coming days.

This trip comes a month after Pete’s four-day bus tour across central and eastern Iowa where over 4,500 Iowans turned out in total to see him speak –– with over 1,000 in attendance at the Davenport stop alone.

The bus trip will be Pete’s seventeenth trip to Iowa this year. Each visit has demonstrated an undeniable enthusiasm for Pete’s campaign in Iowa. At the Polk County Steak Fry, Pete “seemed to generate the most raw enthusiasm from the crowd.” In July, Pete was the only candidate who received a standing ovation at the Progress Iowa Corn Feed. At the Iowa Democratic Wing Ding, Pete received “the loudest applause before, during and after he went on stage, and his visit to the State Fair was called “one of the most successful of the field.”
