Julián Castro To Participate In Three California Candidate Forums on Friday, May 31, Saturday, June 1, and Sunday, June 2, 2019

SAN ANTONIO, TX (May 24, 2019) – From Friday, May 31 to Sunday, June 2, presidential candidate and former U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Secretary under President Obama and San Antonio Mayor, Julián Castro, will travel to Los Angeles and San Francisco to participate in three multi-candidate events.

On Friday, May 31 in Los Angeles, Secretary Castro will deliver remarks at the Unity and Freedom Presidential Forum on immigration, hosted by FIRM Action, Community Change Action, and the CHIRLA Action Fund. On Saturday, June 1, Secretary Castro will travel to San Francisco, California to participate in MoveOn’s Big Ideas candidate forum, at which he will join 2020 candidates in presenting a big, transformative idea that will change people’s lives for the better. On Sunday, June 2, Secretary Castro will deliver remarks at the California Democratic Party State Convention in San Francisco.

In California, Secretary Castro will outline his vision for a more inclusive and prosperous nation, one where every American can live up to the promise of their potential. Secretary Castro will also highlight his recently-unveiled People First Immigration and Education plans.

Sanders to Hold Rallies in Pasadena and San Jose ahead of California Democratic Convention

WASHINGTON – Sen. Bernie Sanders will return to California next week with visits to Pasadena, San Jose, and San Francisco. Sanders will speak at the FIRM Action, Community Change Action and CHIRLA Action Fund Democratic Presidential candidate forum on immigration, as well as the MoveOn “Big Ideas” forum and California Democratic Convention on Sunday.

This trip comes on the heels of a two-day swing through Nevada.

San Francisco, Calif. - The California Democratic Party (CDP) today announced Governor Gavin Newsom will kick off the speaking program at the 2019 CDP Organizing Convention on Saturday, June 1st, 2019 in San Francisco. After a welcome to San Francisco by former Speaker/San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown and current San Francisco Mayor London Breed, Governor Newsom will be the first of a number of statewide elected officials and leaders to deliver remarks to the assembled delegates. Saturday’s session will also feature special remarks from U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

“We are very excited to hear from our statewide leaders and our national leaders who represent California,” said Alexandra “Alex” Gallardo Rooker, acting Chair of the California Democratic Party. “We have had a Blue Wave Rolling across California as a result of the hard work and steadfast governance from these incredible public servants. With their passion and leadership, we can carry that wave across the rest of the country in 2020.”

Saturday Speakers will include: Governor Gavin Newsom; Lt. Governor Eleni Kounalakis; Attorney General Xavier Becerra; Controller Betty Yee; Secretary of State Alex Padilla; Insurance Commissioner Ricardo Lara; Superintendent of Public Instruction Tony Thurmond; and State Treasurer Fiona Ma.

Senate President Pro Tem Toni Atkins, Assembly Speaker Anthony Rendon, and California Congressional Delegation Chair, U.S. Rep. Zoe Lofgren will address the Legislative Leader Lunch Program Saturday afternoon.

U.S. Reps Adam Schiff and Maxine Waters will address the dinner program Saturday evening.

Fourteen Confirmed Presidential Candidates Will Make California Democratic Party’s 2019 Organizing Convention the Center of U.S. Democratic Politics

San Francisco, Calif. - The California Democratic Party (CDP) today announced that at least fourteen (14) Democratic Presidential Candidates will be attending the 2019 CDP Organizing Convention from May 31-June 2, 2019 in San Francisco, Calif., and speaking to delegates. As a result, the three-day convention will become the center of U.S. Democratic politics over that weekend.

In addition to nearly all of California’s statewide elected officials and a number of special guest speakers, fourteen (14) Democratic Candidates for U.S. President have thus far confirmed their attendance at the largest gathering of active Democrats from around California, including: U.S. Senator Cory Booker (NJ) Mayor Pete Buttigieg (South Bend, IN) Fmr. HUD Secretary Julian Castro (TX) Fmr. U.S Rep. John Delaney (MD) U.S. Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (HI) U.S. Senator Kristen Gillibrand (NY) U.S. Senator Kamala Harris (CA) Fmr. Governor John Hickenlooper (CO) Governor Jay Inslee (WA) U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar (MN) Fmr. U.S. Rep. Beto O’Rourke (TX) U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders (VT) U.S. Rep. Eric Swalwell (CA) U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren (MA).

The CDP Organizing Convention will take place at the Moscone Center in San Francisco, Calif. from May 31st to June 2nd, 2019. There are 8.6 million registered Democrats in California. The theme of this year’s Convention is “Blue Wave Rolling.” This Convention will be instrumental in determining changes to the Party’s platform and will elect a new Chair to lead the CDP into 2020. (The Organizing Convention is the first of two State Conventions the CDP will hold this year. The second is the CDP Endorsing Convention which will take place in November 2019 in Long Beach, CA.)
