WASHINGTON -- Sen. Bernie Sanders and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez on December 21 will hold rallies in Los Angeles and Las Vegas. The rallies will showcase the strength of the multicultural working class movement that Bernie 2020 is building across the country, which will propel Sanders to win the Democratic nomination, defeat Donald Trump and bring about a political revolution to transform our country so it works for all of us.

This will be Ocasio-Cortez’s first trip to California and Nevada since her endorsement of Sanders in October.

Sanders Will Bring Together Minor League Baseball Players, Team Leaders and Stadium Workers for a Meeting and Batting Practice

DES MOINES -- Sen. Bernie Sanders will visit southeastern Iowa this weekend to hold events in Burlington, Keokuk, Fairfield and Ottumwa.

On Sunday morning in Burlington, Sanders will hold a meeting and batting practice with minor league baseball players, team leaders and stadium workers. Sanders, who met with Major League Baseball commissioner Rob Manfred last week, has led a national effort to defeat a proposal to eliminate 42 minor league teams, including Iowa’s Burlington Bees, Clinton LumberKings and Quad City River Bandits.

Sanders will also host a rally in Burlington on Saturday evening, a rally in Fairfield and a town hall in Keokuk on Sunday afternoon and a rally in Ottumwa on Sunday evening.

Bernie Sanders Releases High-Speed Internet for All Plan

WASHINGTON – Sen. Bernie Sanders on Friday unveiled a groundbreaking plan, “High-Speed Internet for All,” to invest $150 billion to provide high-speed internet access to every household in America, dramatically lower the costs of high-speed internet services, and break up and regulate internet monopolies. The plan would require providers to offer a basic, quality internet plan at an affordable price.

“It is outrageous that across the country millions of Americans and so many of our communities do not have access to affordable high-speed internet,” said Sanders. “Access to the internet is a necessity in today's economy, and it should be available for all. We are going to take on the greedy internet, telecom, and cable monopolies and put an end to their absurd prices gauging. Just as President Roosevelt fundamentally made America more equal by bringing electricity to every farm and rural community over 80 years ago, as president, I will do the same with high-speed internet.”

Having high-speed internet is central to the basic functions of families, students, and businesses, yet across the country huge swaths of the population lack access to an internet connection or cannot afford the options available.

As President, Sanders will stop the practice of treating high-speed internet access like a luxury item, and instead treat it like a public utility that everyone deserves as a basic human right. Sanders will also take on the greed of the telecom and cable monopolies who exploit their dominant market power to rip off consumers and lobby government at all levels to keep out competition. Ending this type of greed and corruption will be a major priority under a Sanders administration.

Bernie’s plan would:
• Provide $150 billion through the Green New Deal in infrastructure grants and technical assistance for municipalities and/or states to build publicly owned and democratically controlled, co-operative, or open access broadband networks.
• Require that all internet service providers offer a Basic Internet Plan that provides quality broadband speeds at an affordable price.
• Break up internet service provider and cable monopolies, bar service providers from providing content, and unwind anticompetitive mergers.
• Increase the FCC definition of minimum broadband speeds to 100mbps for downloads and 10mbps for uploads.
• Set aside $7.5 billion to expand high-speed broadband in Indian Country and fully resource the FCC’s Office of Native Affairs and Policy.
• Ensure people with disabilities have full access to the internet.
• Guarantee all public housing residents free broadband services.
• Ensure broadband infrastructure is resilient to the effects of climate change.

DES MOINES -- Mitch Henry, co-founder and board member of the Asian and Latino Coalition, on Wednesday endorsed Sen. Bernie Sanders for president.

“I am endorsing Bernie Sanders because I know that when he is in the White House, he will fight for Latinos and working people everywhere because he always has,” Henry said. “His leadership and strength are desperately needed at a time of great division and fear in America. Sen. Sanders sends a loud and clear message that the Latino electorate is hungry for a new type of leadership that stands up to special interests and puts people before politics.”

Mitch Henry, listed as one of the Des Moines Register’s 50 Most Wanted Democrats, co-founded the Asian and Latino Coalition PAC and currently serves as board member and Communications Director. Henry previously served as LULAC Political Director and Polk County Director for LULAC’s Latino Iowa Caucus. WASHINGTON – In a new video released on Wednesday by Bernie 2020, actor and activist Mark Ruffalo announced his endorsement of Sen. Bernie Sanders’ campaign for president. Ruffalo cites the senator’s position on health care, refusing corporate and PAC money, support for a Green New Deal and free college education for all as reasons for his endorsement.

“We need a movement leader,” Ruffalo says in the video. “We need a movement organizer. We need a leader who’s actually one of us, and Bernie is one of us and he’s always been one of us.”

Ruffalo’s endorsement comes days before the premiere of his film, Dark Waters, which tells the true story of an attorney who uncovers a secret hidden by one of the world’s largest corporations connected to unexplained deaths in a community that had been exposed to deadly chemicals for decades. Sanders is outspoken on the campaign trail about the need to overhaul our nation’s water infrastructure, including a visit to Denmark, SC in May to tour homes where a dangerous chemical was pumped into the community’s water supply.

DES MOINES -- Iowa Student Action and its progressive student organizers across the state’s college campuses on Tuesday endorsed Sen. Bernie Sanders for president.

“Only Bernie Sanders has proven to be an ally and voice for young people throughout his lifetime, and we’re confident that he’ll continue to do so when he’s president,” said Iowa Student Action organizer Sara Castro. “Candidates need to do more than just say they support young people, they need to show that support. Sanders’ College for All plan, including undocumented and formerly incarcerated people, along with full debt cancellation, shows he is willing to fight for us.”

“Students at Iowa’s public colleges, private colleges, community colleges and trade schools know that Bernie Sanders believes higher education is a right, not a privilege for the few,” Bernie 2020 Iowa State Director Misty Rebik said. “Iowa Student Action is going to organize campuses across the state to achieve record-breaking youth turnout this caucus. Together, with Bernie Sanders in the White House as Organizer-in-Chief, we are going to build a movement to deliver college for all.”

Iowa Student Action is an affiliate of Student Action, a national network of student organizations that run a national campaign for tuition-free college for all and the full cancellation of student debt. Sen. Sanders is the only presidential candidate with a universal College for All and full debt cancellation plan.

Iowa Student Action has members at campuses across the state including Grinnell College, Iowa State University, Des Moines Area Community College, University of Iowa, University of Northern Iowa and Cornell College. Iowa Student Action is also a sister organization of Iowa CCI, which endorsed Sanders on Monday.

Sanders continues to build on his lead with young Iowans. High schoolers voted 2-to-1 for Bernie in October’s Iowa Youth Straw Poll. In poll after poll, college students across the state and country overwhelmingly support Sanders by similarly decisive margins. Sanders leads the entire field with young donors in Iowa, receiving more contributions from Iowans 25 years old and younger than the next five candidates combined.

The Sanders campaign in Iowa has built the largest grassroots volunteer base in the state, bolstered by thousands of young volunteers. Over 1,500 students across the country signed up for the Bernie Summer School program to train campus leaders with staff-level organizing skills and resources. Volunteers at some of the largest high schools in the state and nearly every college in Iowa signed up to participate in the Summer School program.
