Pete for America Launches New Ads Featuring South Bend Leader Gladys Muhammad and Highlighting the Douglass Plan
Columbia, SC — On the heels of the endorsement from one of South Carolina’s largest newspapers, The State, Pete For America today released a new series of television and digital ads featuring South Bend Community Leader Gladys Muhammad and highlighting the Douglass Plan, the campaign’s comprehensive plan to invest in the empowerment of Black America.
The ads will ensure voters across the Palmetto State hear about Pete’s record of leadership from the voices that know him best and his commitment to tackling systemic racism and expanding opportunity for all as president.
One of the new ads, “Gladys,” features Gladys Muhammad, a community leader from South Bend who worked with Pete throughout his time as mayor and saw first hand his commitment to turning the city around - including reducing Black unemployment by nearly 70%, expanding access to affordable housing, and increasing household income by a third. The other ad, titled “Douglass Plan,” highlights Pete’s commitment to tackling systemic racism through the Douglass Plan, including investing $50 billion in HBCUs, creating 3 million jobs in communities of color, and tripling Black entrepreneurship. These ads will run on TV and digital platforms statewide across South Carolina.
The new ads come days after Pete was endorsed by South Carolina’s second-largest newspaper, The State, where the paper praised Pete’s ability to unify the country to defeat Donald Trump, stating, “The Democrats need a nominee who seeks to bring Americans together based on broad common ground — and not divide them along narrow interests.”
