Iowa Democratic Party Announces DNC Chair Tom Perez to Speak at Liberty and Justice Celebration
Perez joins 14 presidential candidates in addressing more than 12,000 Democrats at the largest event of the 2020 caucus season
DES MOINES — Today, with just over 100 days until the Iowa Caucus, the Iowa Democratic Party (IDP) announced that DNC Chair Tom Perez will be a featured speaker at the Liberty and Justice Celebration on Friday, November 1, at the Wells Fargo Arena.
Perez will join 14 presidential candidates in addressing the crowd of more than 12,000 Democrats, including Sen. Michael Bennet, Vice Pres. Joe Biden, Sen. Cory Booker, Gov. Steve Bullock, Mayor Pete Buttigieg, Sec. Julián Castro, Rep. John Delaney, Sen. Kamala Harris, Sen. Amy Klobuchar, Rep. Beto O’Rourke, Sen. Bernie Sanders, Mr. Tom Steyer, Sen. Elizabeth Warren, and Mr. Andrew Yang.
“I look forward to joining thousands of Iowans in celebrating our party’s values,” said DNC Chair Tom Perez. “Democrats in Iowa and across the country are putting in the work on the ground to bring more voters into our party, and the Liberty and Justice Celebration is an exciting chance to highlight that energy and recommit ourselves to defeating Donald Trump and restoring Democratic values to the White House.”
“This event will be one of the single biggest in our state party’s history, and Iowa Democrats are ready to show the world that Democratic values are thriving in the heartland,” said IDP Chair Troy Price. “The caucuses are 103 days away, and Iowans take our role in kicking off the nominating process very seriously. In all 99 counties, we’re building relationships with voters from all parties, organizing around our values, and developing a caucus structure that will bring more voices into our party than ever before. That’s how we’re going to beat Donald Trump and elect Democrats up and down the ticket in 2020.”
The Liberty and Justice Celebration is an opportunity to highlight the strength of the party heading into the 2020 elections, and to celebrate the candidates and campaigns that are organizing to turn Iowa blue in 2020, beginning with the first-in-the-nation caucuses on February 3.
Each of these confirmed presidential candidate speakers has met a threshold to participate, including signing a pledge to keep the Iowa Caucuses first-in-the-nation beyond 2020.
