Cory Booker to Bring Issue of Child Poverty to the Forefront on Four Day Swing Through Iowa on October 6-9, 2019 *Updated

Des Moines, IA - Cory Booker will take his new plan to address child poverty on the road during his four day swing through Iowa, October 6th - 9th.
Building on his economic agenda to deliver opportunity and justice for all workers, today, Cory Booker announced a new plan to cut child poverty by at least two-thirds and create opportunity for individuals and families trying to escape poverty.
Child poverty is an issue that transcends the rural-urban divide; more than one in ten Iowa children are living in poverty and the same number are food insecure. Those numbers get even more bleak for children of color in Iowa, where nearly one-third of all African-American children, one-fourth of all Native American children, and nearly one in five Latinx American children are living in poverty.
Issues of child poverty have been almost entirely absent from the campaign trail, despite the moral and economic imperative to act. This ends now.
Cory will be joined by several key Iowa local and state leaders in communities from Decorah to Spirit Lake, including State Auditor Rob Sand, House Democratic Leader Todd Prichard, State Senator Rob Hogg, and IA-04 Congressional Candidate J.D. Scholten.
