MARIANNE WILLIAMSON RETURNS TO IOWA FOR THE LGBTQ PRESIDENTIAL FORUM IN CEDAR RAPIDS
Des Moines, IA - Democratic Presidential Candidate, best-selling author, and activist Marianne Williamson will be in Cedar Rapids, IA on Friday, September 20th. She will appear at the Sinclair Auditorium at Coe College to speak at the LGBTQ Presidential Candidate Forum.
The forum is hosted by One Iowa, The Advocate, The Gazette, and GLAAD, the world’s largest LGBTQ media advocacy organization. Doors open at 6:15 p.m., the program runs from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. Williamson will speak at 7:45 p.m.
Ms. Williamson is a long-time proponent and ally of the LGBTQ community. In 1989 she founded Project Angel Food, an outreach program of the Los Angeles Center for Living, which helps people with life-threatening illnesses specifically home-bound men afflicted with AIDS.
“Our Declaration of Independence holds that the inalienable rights of, "Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness," are endowed to ALL humans by their creator at birth. In 2015, marriage equality became the law of the land, yet there is still no federal law explicitly protecting the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) communities from discrimination. These communities, therefore, do not enjoy the full breadth of freedoms that this country espouses to guarantee to each and every citizen,” said Williamson.
According to Williamson, “In a Williamson administration, no LGBTQ+ person will feel unsupported by their government. They will live with the absolute knowledge that they and their rights are both honored and protected by the highest authorities in the land.”
