Julián Castro Returns to Nevada with Focus on Education, Homelessness, and Labor
SAN ANTONIO, TX (August 26, 2019) – After securing a spot on the September and October debate stages, presidential candidate and former Obama Secretary of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and Mayor of San Antonio, Texas, Julián Castro, will return to Nevada today for three days. This trip marks his eighth visit to Nevada since announcing his candidacy in January.
Today, August 26, Secretary Castro will tour an afterschool program for low-income students and join local non-profits to provide necessities to homeless individuals in Las Vegas.
On Tuesday, August 27, Secretary Castro will tour a senior center in North Las Vegas and join educators and education advocates at a roundtable at a Las Vegas high school. Following the tour, Secretary Castro and Assemblywoman Selena Torres will hold a meet-and-greet event at the San Salvador Restaurant.
On Wednesday, August 28, Secretary Castro will speak to delegates at the Nevada AFL-CIO convention at the Flamingo Casino.
