Jay Inslee to Hold Six Events Across Las Vegas and Reno on August 3-5, 2019
Inslee to meet hundreds of Nevada voters, workers, environmental leaders, and activists over three-day trip to the state
Las Vegas, NV – This weekend, Governor Jay Inslee will begin a three-day swing through Nevada to hold roundtables, town halls, and meetings with environmental leaders, activists, workers, and voters.
Tomorrow, Saturday, August 3rd, Inslee will travel to Las Vegas to participate in AFSCME's Public Service 2020 Forum. At 1:55 PM PT, Inslee will address hundreds of workers about the importance of investing in public services and creating strong labor protections for workers. Inslee will discuss his "Organizing the American Dream" plan and answer questions from attendees.
Next, at 3:30 PM PT, he will hold a roundtable discussion with members from Make The Road Action Nevada, an advocacy organization for immigrants and workers. Inslee will speak with outdoor workers about how climate change is affecting their jobs and about federal immigration reform, as Make The Road Action organizes in the Latino community. Inslee will share details from “America’s Promise,” his comprehensive immigration reform plan.
Later, at 5:30 PM PT, Inslee will speak to Nevada’s Asian and Pacific Islander community at a dinner event. The Governor will be introduced by Congresswoman Dina Titus (D-NV) before speaking about his campaign and plans to defeat climate change.
On Sunday, August 4th at 11:45 AM PT, Inslee will meet with members of the Progressive Leadership Alliance of Nevada, which has fought to protect the rights of marginalized and indigenous communities. Inslee will discuss his recently announced “Community Climate Justice” plan, and how the United States must apply an environmental justice lens to its efforts to defeat the climate crisis.
Then, on Monday, August 5th at 3:00 PM PT, Inslee will travel to Reno to hold a roundtable discussion with Nevada conservation leaders about the climate crisis and the unique challenges facing the state’s environment. Inslee will learn about the work local leaders are doing to protect Nevada’s environment and ensure environmental justice, and will discuss his proposals to combat climate change.
In his last event of the trip, Indivisible will hold a town hall at 5:30 PM PT where Inslee will meet with Reno voters to answer their questions and speak about his campaign. Inslee will discuss his opposition to the filibuster along with his comprehensive vision for taking on the climate crisis before hearing directly from voters about their experiences and concerns for the country.
Governor Jay Inslee is the only 2020 candidate making climate change his top priority. He recently announced his “Community Climate Justice” plan, the fifth plank in Inslee’s groundbreaking climate platform, including his “100% Clean Energy for America,” "Evergreen Economy", “Global Climate Mobilization,” and “Freedom from Fossil Fuels” plans, which have been called the “gold standard” among climate change plans.
