Cory Booker to Speak at AFSCME Forum in Las Vegas, Visit Women's Correctional Facility
Booker to Highlight Criminal Justice Reform, Mass Incarceration During Visit to Florence McClure
Las Vegas, NV — Cory Booker will return to Nevada on Saturday, August 3 to participate in the AFSCME 2020 Public Service Forum. Following the forum, Cory will join Hope for Prisoners for a visit to the Florence McClure Women's Correctional Center where he will discuss his criminal justice reform plan and highlight the mass incarceration problem in our country -- nearly 80 percent of the women imprisoned in Nevada are incarcerated for non-violent crimes. Cory will meet with incarcerated women who participate in Hope for Prison's education program that helps inmates reintegrate into the workforce.
Cory will also visit Expertise Cosmetology Institute to meet with graduates of Florence McClure's cosmetology education program, and attend a Saturday evening service at Victory Missionary Baptist Church. This will be Cory's fifth visit to the state since announcing his presidential campaign.
