Kamala Harris to Visit Michigan and Indiana to Speak at NAACP and Urban League Conferences **Updated
Next week, Senator Kamala Harris will campaign in Michigan and Indiana. On Wednesday, July 24, she will speak at the 110th Annual NAACP National Convention in Detroit, and on Friday, July 26, she will deliver remarks at the National Urban League Annual Convention in Indianapolis. At these events, Harris will hear from attendees, take questions, and discuss her plans to build a more equal America through addressing systemic racism and wealth inequality. Last week in Iowa, Harris hosted a roundtable discussion about the issues facing women of color. In May, Harris delivered keynote remarks at the Detroit NAACP Annual Freedom Fund Dinner. The Detroit chapter is the largest branch in the organization.
Harris recently announced an agenda to lift up minority communities that includes plans to invest $100 billion in minority homeownership to address the racial wealth gap, offer relief for renters paying more than 30% of their income on rent, provide up to $500 a month for working families making less than $100,000 through a new middle class tax credit, combat the Black maternal mortality crisis, close the gender pay gap for women, and make new investments to raise teacher pay and expand opportunities for teachers of color.
