Joe Biden Picks Up Endorsements from South Carolina Mayors Ahead of State’s Democratic Party Convention

COLUMBIA, SOUTH CAROLINA – Today, eleven current and former South Carolina mayors are endorsing Vice President Joe Biden. The announcement comes as Vice President Biden returns to South Carolina for his second swing through the state.

“I am honored to have the support of so many mayors,” said Vice President Biden. “These are folks who know firsthand what it takes to lead and get things done to help working people. I am grateful and proud to have these outstanding mayors on my team.”

DUBLIN, CA – 2020 Democratic presidential candidate Congressman Eric Swalwell will visit Florida on Friday, June 21, to speak at the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed

Officials (NALEO) Presidential Candidate Forum at Telemundo Center in Miami, before travelling to South Carolina for a series of events later Friday and Saturday.

“Before next week’s Democratic presidential debate in Miami, I’ll be in Florida to talk with our nation’s Latino leaders and in South Carolina to help rally Palmetto State Democrats for our crucial 2020 elections,” Swalwell said. “These two states are deeply affected by issues that I’ve made priorities – they’ve suffered mass shootings, they’re among the top 10 states for residents without health insurance, they struggle with student loan debt, and they stand to be ravaged by climate chaos. Texas Congressman Al Green Endorses Kamala Harris for President, Points to Her Record as Change Agent

Today, Congressman Al Green of Texas announced her endorsement of Senator Kamala Harris in her run for president. Green, in his eighth term representing Texas’ 9th district, points to Harris’ record of reform and her proposals like her new immigration plan as why he is coming out early for Harris. He is the second member of the Congressional Black Caucus to endorse Harris.

“Kamala Harris represents leadership and commitment to service that is desperately needed in the White House,” Green said. “Not only does she have plans, she has used the power of her position enact real change that can become a model for the nation. From creating a program to address trauma in children who witness domestic violence as San Francisco’s District Attorney, to standing up to big banks and winning billions for California’s homeowners as Attorney General, to being one of the foremost opponents in the Senate to the corruption of this Administration - Kamala Harris represents the future of our nation.”

Green will campaign with Harris and serve as Texas campaign co-chair. Green joins Harris County Commissioner Rodney Ellis and Rodney Griffin, Texas Democratic Executive Committeeman Emeritus, in endorsing Harris from the Lone Star State. Texas will award more than 200 delegates in the 2020 Democratic primary.

COLUMBIA, SC - Only one week after crisscrossing South Carolina to hold more than ten events across the state, Beto O’Rourke will return to speak at Congressman Jim Clyburn’s World Famous Fish Fry, the South Carolina Democratic Party (SCDP) Convention, the Planned Parenthood Action Fund Candidate Forum, and a pre-convention rally with supporters.

Last weekend, Beto held town halls and events in Beaufort, Charleston, North Charleston, Columbia, Sumter, Spartanburg, and Greenville where hundreds of South Carolinians turned out to hear Beto’s vision for achieving universal, guaranteed, high-quality health care, fighting voter suppression efforts, protecting the environment, ensuring this country fully invests in public education and finally pays teachers a living wage, and fixing our broken criminal justice system. On Sunday, he was the only candidate in the democratic primary to hold public events.
