Jay Inslee to Talk Campaign, Climate Change with Iowa Democrats on Friday, June 28, 2019
Following his appearance at the first DNC debate, Inslee will return to Iowa to meet local voters
Miami, FL – Coming off the first round of Democratic debates, Governor Jay Inslee will travel immediately to Iowa on Friday to meet with local Democrats and discuss his vision to defeat climate change.
On Friday, June 28th, Inslee will hold his first post-debate public appearance, joining the Des Moines Democrats and Polk County Democrats in Des Moines at 6:00 PM CT. Fresh off the first round of debates and the release of his “Freedom from Fossil Fuels” plan, Inslee will share his proposal to end America’s growing dependence on fossil fuels, learn more about the local and national issues facing Iowans, and double down on his calls for a climate change centered debate.
Inslee will build on his past trips to Iowa, which have included multiple meetings with victims of recent floods and visits to solar panel contractors and wind turbine educational programs. Inslee has also released billboards in Iowa calling out MidAmerican for continuing to burn coal while Iowans suffer from the resulting climate change effects.
Governor Jay Inslee is the only 2020 candidate making climate change his top priority. Earlier this week, Inslee announced his “Freedom from Fossil Fuels” plan, the most aggressive plan for combating the fossil fuel pollution ever proposed by a presidential candidate. The plan adds yet another groundbreaking climate proposal to Inslee’s platform, building on his “100% Clean Energy for America,” "Evergreen Economy", and “Global Climate Mobilization” plans, which have been called the “gold standard” among climate change plans.
