Jay Inslee to Rally Support for Climate Debate, Attend Hall of Fame Celebration
Inslee will celebrate LGBTQI pride, discuss climate change with Iowa State Senator Rob Hogg and friends, and speak to Iowa Democratic Party at Hall of Fame event
Seattle – Just days after the DNC refused to host a climate debate, Washington Governor Jay Inslee will head to Iowa to discuss the importance of climate action and a climate debate, as well as LGBTQI equality. On Sunday, he will speak at the Iowa Democratic Party Hall of Fame dinner in Cedar Rapids. On Saturday, he will speak about LGBTQI rights in Des Moines, and hold a climate conversation with Iowa climate leaders in Cedar Rapids.
On Saturday, June 8th at 2:30 PM CT, Inslee will travel to Des Moines to speak at Capital City Pride’s Meet the Candidates event. As governor of Washington, Inslee has been a champion for the LGBTQI community, advancing policies that ban conversion therapy, provide a way for non-binary individuals to change their gender on their birth certificates, and ensure transgender individuals are not discriminated against for health coverage.
Next, Inslee will travel to Cedar Rapids, where he will join Iowa Senator Rob Hogg and Sunrise Movement Cedar Rapids for a “Climate Conversation” at 6:00 PM CT. Following the DNC’s refusal to host a climate debate, Inslee and Senator Hogg will talk about why it is so critical that we make climate change the defining issue in the 2020 election. Inslee will discuss his “Climate Mission Agenda” and take questions about his plan to solve the existential crisis of our time.
Finally, on Sunday, June 9th, Inslee will address the Iowa Democratic Party at their Hall of Fame Celebration event. Inslee will speak about the need for a President who will aggressively take on the fossil fuel industry and why the Democratic National Committee must reconsider and hold a climate debate.
Inslee, who is the only presidential candidate who has made defeating climate change and building a clean energy economy the cornerstone of his campaign, has been making stops to speak with voters across the country as part of his “Climate Mission Tour.” He recently announced his “100% Clean Energy for America,” "Evergreen Economy," and “Global Climate Mobilization” plans, and since launching his campaign in March, has visited Iowa, New Hampshire, South Carolina, Nevada, Texas, California, New York, Illinois, and Oregon.
