Jay Inslee to Make Major Policy Announcement in the Everglades on Monday, June 24, 2019
Gov. Inslee to tour Everglades Holiday Park, near site of
proposed Everglades drilling
Fort Lauderdale, FL – On Monday, Governor Jay Inslee will kick off the week of the first Democratic debates with a major policy announcement in the Everglades.
Inslee will make the announcement at 11 AM ET on Monday at the Everglades Holiday Park. Inslee’s announcement comes just months after Florida’s 1st District Court of Appeal ruled in favor of Kanter Real Estate, LLC’s proposed oil exploration in the Everglades. The Everglades provide drinking water for over 6 million Floridians, and the state’s decision to permit drilling jeopardizes clean water for over one third of the residents of Florida.
Inslee will join local environmental leaders in an airboat tour of Everglades Holiday Park to witness the unique ecosystem that is at risk should the Kanter oil exploration and drilling proposal move forward.
Inslee is the only presidential candidate who has made defeating climate change and building a clean energy economy the cornerstone of his campaign.
