Beto O’Rourke & Family Make Their First Trip to Iowa *Updated
Trip includes Independence Day Parade, Veterans Home Tour, Iowa Cubs Game
DES MOINES, IOWA — Beto and Amy and their three children — Ulysses (12), Molly (11) and Henry (8) — will visit Iowa next week for their first family trip. It will be Beto’s sixth trip since declaring his campaign for the presidency. The O’Rourke family will be participating in the Independence Day Parade in Independence, Iowa, watching an Iowa Cubs game and fireworks, visiting the Iowa Veterans Home, and attending other events with Iowans around the state.
The trip comes after Amy and Beto O’Rourke’s first trip together, which included a farm tour, Capital City Pride, several town halls, the Iowa Democratic Party Hall of Fame, and their first ever joint television interview. In the past month, the O’Rourke campaign has held two Iowa Statewide Weekends of Actions and nearly tripled the size of its Iowa team, with 37 organizing staff in every region and 44 Iowa staff overall.
Since launching his bid for the White House, O’Rourke has held 83 Iowa events and town halls in 40 counties to meet with, listen to, and learn from Iowans in every corner of the state. O’Rourke has visited more Iowa counties than any other presidential candidate this cycle.
