Julián Castro Takes College Tour in Iowa
Secretary Castro will hold events with students from six local colleges and participate in a 2020 book club Q&A
SAN ANTONIO, TX (Friday, May 3, 2019) – On Tuesday, May 7, 2019, presidential candidate and former U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Secretary under President Obama and San Antonio Mayor, Julián Castro, will travel to Iowa for his fourth trip to the first-in-the-nation caucus state since announcing his candidacy.
In Iowa, Secretary Castro will conduct a tour of local colleges, hosting events with students from Iowa State University, Grinnell College, Drake University, Grandview University, Simpson College, and the Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC). In the evening, Secretary Castro will participate in a 2020 Book Club Q&A with local residents reading books published by 2020 Democratic candidates.
Secretary Castro’s Iowa trip comes days after his campaign announced that they had secured the 65,000 unique individual contributions needed to guarantee a spot at the June and July DNC Democratic debates.
