Beto O’Rourke to Make 1st Trip to Dallas and Fort Worth as a Presidential Candidate
Beto O’Rourke returns home to Texas on Friday for a two-day visit to the Dallas-Fort Worth area. The presidential candidate will host a town hall in Fort Worth before delivering a commencement speech to the 130th graduating class of Paul Quinn College, the oldest HBCU west of the Mississippi River. This is his third visit to the college over the last year as he has held a dozen events at HBCUs across the country.
Prior to returning to Texas, O’Rourke was in California to meet with, listen to and learn from voters in Los Angeles, San Francisco and San Diego. He also became one of the first 2020 presidential candidates to visit California’s Central Valley, a region that is not only experiencing the damaging impacts of climate change but has been at the forefront of combating it. During a hike with local experts at Yosemite National Park, O’Rourke released a bold and ambitious plan to confront the existential threat of climate change and invest in our communities.
April 14th marked the end of O’Rourke’s historic first month as a candidate. Since announcing his run for President of the United States, he has held 118 events with tens of thousands of Americans in 94 cities across 13 states and the District of Columbia. O’Rourke has personally driven 4,697 miles as his grassroots campaign has criss-crossed the United States answering more than 730 questions from voters.
