John Delaney to Campaign in Michigan and Iowa on January 10-12, 2019
FRIENDSHIP HEIGHTS, MD – John Delaney will campaign in Michigan and Iowa next week, meeting with entrepreneurs in Detroit on Thursday, meeting with Iowa Democrats in Dewitt and Tipton as well as speaking in Davenport on Friday, and opening new offices in Cedar Rapids and Des Moines Saturday. Delaney will drive his father’s truck during the trip. Delaney’s father Jack, an IBEW electrician, passed away in 2016.
In Detroit, Delaney will participate in a roundtable discussion with minority entrepreneurs hosted by the Detroit Development Fund. Delaney founded and led two publicly-traded companies and is a former winner of the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year award. Delaney’s businesses focused on providing access to capital for small and medium-sized businesses.
In Davenport on Friday, Delaney will deliver remarks titled “America, 2030,” an in-depth multimedia presentation which will also include a Q&A session. “America, 2030” outlines the major macro-trends that will define our future, including global trade, the rise of automation, education needs, health care, climate change, and digital privacy. Delaney will outline how we can revive the American Dream and expand economic opportunity. Last year, Delaney gave “America, 2030” presentations in Des Moines, Cedar Rapids, and Manchester, New Hampshire.
Delaney has already campaigned in all 99 Iowa counties. The first Democratic candidate to do so since 2008. This week, Delaney and his wife April McClain-Delaney toured the South Texas Family Residential Center in Dilley, Texas. John and April sponsored a group of 14 students and two professors from Georgetown University Law Center to provide legal assistance to asylum seekers.
