Join us at the Collegiate Methodist Church for our Annual Soup Supper Fundraiser for a variety of delicious homemade soups and desserts! There will be vegetarian and gluten-free options.

J.D. Scholten will be a featured speaker.

Presidential hopeful Governor Hickenlooper of Colorado is confirmed to speak. Stay tuned for announcement of additional speakers.

We are in need of volunteers to bring crockpots of soup and desserts. Call Maddie at 515-229-7661 if you can help.

2020 Democratic Presidential Candidate Andrew Yang is coming to Minneapolis!

One of the most exciting candidates in the 2020 US Presidential Election, Andrew Yang (D) is looking to bring his experience as a successful tech entrepreneur and innovator to the White House.

In 2011, he founded Venture for America, and spent the last 6 years helping to create more than 2,500 jobs in cities like Cleveland, Detroit, and Pittsburgh.

Andrew realized that automation threatens one-third of all jobs and that we need a vision for a radically different future. In his book, The War on Normal People (April 2018), he explains this crisis, arguing for The Freedom Dividend, $1,000 a month for every American adult, a central pillar of his platform.

John K. Delaney is a former entrepreneur and member of Congress. The focus of John’s campaign is to bring the country together, end hyper-partisanship, and focus on the future.

Delaney grew up in a blue-collar union household in northern New Jersey and his parents did not attend college. Delaney founded and led two-publicly traded companies and represented Maryland’s Sixth District in the House of Representatives from 2013-2019.

Delaney’s businesses were focused on providing capital to small and medium-sized companies, helping thousands of businesses grow. Delaney is a past winner of Ernst & Young’s Entrepreneur of the Year Award and his business received the Bank Enterprise Award from the Obama Administration for investing in economically distressed communities.

In Congress, John was known for his work crafting innovative bipartisan legislation to rebuild America’s infrastructure. In 2017, Delaney was named one of the World’s Greatest Leaders by Fortune Magazine for his efforts. Delaney authored legislation to create a carbon tax, establish access to pre-K nationwide, end gerrymandering, create a national artificial intelligence strategy, study social media’s impact on minors, and support veterans. GovTrack identified Delaney as one of the most bipartisan members of Congress. As a member of the House, he founded the AI Caucus, a bipartisan group dedicated to educating policymakers on technology and future of work issues.

John has already campaigned in all 99 Iowa counties and has multiple offices open in Iowa, with campaign headquarters in Maryland. John and his wife April McClain-Delaney live in Potomac, Maryland and have four daughters.

San Antonio hosts the largest march in the nation, with approximately 300,000 participants each year.

On January 19, 1987, the San Antonio Martin Luther King Jr. Commission and the City of San Antonio held its first official Martin Luther King, Jr. Day March.
