FRIENDSHIP HEIGHTS, MD – John Delaney will campaign in Iowa next week. Delaney will open campaign offices in Council Bluffs and Sioux City and hold a Town Hall Meeting in Denison. Delaney will also hold meet and greets in Glenwood and Fort Dodge. Earlier this month, Delaney opened campaign offices in Des Moines and Cedar Rapids. Delaney has already campaigned in all 99 Iowa counties.

Right now our country needs a fresh start.

I’m Pete Buttigieg. I’m the Mayor of South Bend, Indiana.

When I arrived in office at the beginning of this decade, the national press said that our city was dying.

People on the outside didn’t believe our city had a future.

We propelled our city’s comeback by taking our eyes off the rearview mirror, being honest about change, and insisting on a better future.

I belong to a generation that is stepping forward right now.

We’re the generation that lived through school shootings, that served in the wars after 9/11.

And we’re the generation that stands to be the first to make less than our parents.

Unless we do something different.

“We can’t just polish off a system so broken. It is a season for boldness and a focus on the future.”

Good leadership brings out the best in us.

The job of a leader is to call us to our highest values.

“We stand for the better America that we know we can be. That’s our message. It’s not even complicated.”

There’s a new generation of voices emerging in our country.

Walking away from the politics of the past and ready to deliver on our priorities.

Good morning:

The show in Washington right now is exhausting: the corruption, the fighting, the lying, the sense of constant crisis… it has to end. But we can’t just revert to where we were a few years ago, trying to tinker with a broken system. This is a season for boldness, and we need to focus on the future.

I want you to be among the first to know that I am considering a presidential campaign, and I’ve officially launched an exploratory committee.

This is my eighth and final year as Mayor of South Bend, Indiana. Over the last decade, our community has seen extraordinary changes, going from a city written off as “dying” to one that stands as living proof that the industrial Midwest can create a better future by leaving aside nostalgia and resentment, solving problems to help bring everyone a better everyday life.
Time and again, South Bend has beaten the odds and the expectations. But now I am worried about our country -- especially for members of my generation.

What will America look like in 2054, when I reach the age of the current president? How will we look back on 2020?
My generation is the generation that experienced school shootings beginning when I was in high school, the generation that fought in the post 9/11 wars, the first generation to have to deal with the reality of climate change, and the first generation not to be better off than our parents materially -- if nothing changes.

Only a forward focus -- untethered from the politics of the past and anchored by our shared values -- can change our national politics and our nation’s future.

We value freedom knowing it means more than cutting regulation: you’re not free if you can’t sue a credit card company that gets caught ripping you off, or walk down the street without being profiled on the basis of your skin color, or marry the person you love.

We value security knowing it means more than what goes on at the border: it requires real strategies for 21st-century threats like cybersecurity, election security, and climate security.

And we value our democracy, the foundation of our national life, that is under attack from hostile foreign powers and from cynical political tactics. That’s why our democracy must be defended and broadened, with real and bold reforms.

I am aware of the odds we would face if we proceed to mount a national campaign. But I am exploring this run because I can offer a different experience and perspective than anyone else. And I believe that at a moment like this, underdog campaigns will go further than the establishment would normally allow, when it comes to bold ideas that can truly meet the threats and opportunities coming our way.

I am looking forward to discussing and developing these ideas in the coming weeks. Simply put, I will need your help.
You have been there for me in the past, as I sought to bring needed change to our hometown and to our party. Now I ask you to join me in exploring what new leadership could mean for the country we love.

Harris to Attend 37th Annual Event in Columbia

Senator Kamala Harris will visit South Carolina on Friday, January 25, to attend an event hosted by the local chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. Harris became a member of AKA as an undergraduate at Howard University.

Harris will deliver brief remarks in Columbia at the 37th Annual Pink Ice Gala, which begins at 8:00 PM (EST) in the Cantey Building of the South Carolina State Fairgrounds. The gala is an annual fundraising event supporting scholarships, community service and program initiatives.

On Monday, Harris announced that she will seek the Democratic nomination for President of United States -- the first member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated in history to do so.

Alexandra Sanchez - Research Director
Alex Sanchez has served as Senator Gillibrand's research director and adviser since Gillibrand's appointment to the Senate in 2009. Originally from Albuquerque, NM, Alex worked in senior research roles for former Governor Bill Richardson's gubernatorial and presidential campaigns, and Senator Tom Udall's campaign for the United States Senate.

Gregory Smiley - National Deputy Political Director
Gregory O. Smiley will be joining the campaign next month as national deputy political director. He previously served as campaign manager for Gillibrand’s 2018 Senate re-election campaign. Smiley was born in Jamaica, West Indies and grew up in East New York Brooklyn. Beginning in 2014, Smiley helmed a diverse portfolio as Gillibrand's director of intergovernmental affairs, including guidance on key policy areas such as gun control and marijuana decriminalization.

Evan Lukaske - National Press Secretary
Evan Lukaske joins the Gillibrand campaign after spending the 2018 cycle at the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee as northeast press secretary. Previous to that, Evan served as press secretary at the New Hampshire Democratic Party. A born-and-bred New Yorker, Evan started his political career working for former DCCC Chairman Steve Israel, and also worked on campaigns for former Congressman Tim Bishop and Nassau County District Attorney Madeline Singas.

Alexandria Phillips - Traveling Press Secretary
Alex Phillips is moving over from Senator Gillibrand's official Senate Office where she served as press secretary. Previously, she was director of surrogates and media affairs for Minority Leader of the Senate Charles E. Schumer, served as a press aide to Hillary Clinton's 2016 campaign, and worked at the State Department and Rockefeller Foundation. A Missouri native, she is a graduate of Spelman College in Atlanta, GA.

Stefanie Conahan - Finance Director
Stefanie Conahan leads Senator Gillibrand's national finance team, after having been a senior member of the Senator's fundraising team for the 2010, 2012 and 2018 campaigns and managing her Off the Sidelines PAC, which raised over $7 million for almost 200 women candidates since the 2012 cycle. Stefanie started her political career working for Senator Evan Bayh and worked on Hillary Clinton’s 2008 Presidential campaign. A mom of three, Stefanie attended Syracuse University and George Washington’s Graduate School of Political Management.

Erica Bordador - Deputy Finance Director
Part of the Gillibrand team since the 2010 cycle, Erica Bordador has led the Senator's Mid-Atlantic fundraising since 2012. Erica has also served as the Senator's trip director, and most recently was political director for Gillibrand's Off the Sidelines PAC. Prior to Gillibrand, Erica served in the offices of former Representatives Debbie Halvorson and Baron Hill. A first-generation American, she is originally from Louisville, Kentucky.
