Statement from DFL Chairman Ken Martin on the Election of Sec. Tom Perez and Rep. Keith Ellison

“I would like to congratulate Tom Perez on his election to lead the Democratic National Party (DNC).

“As the former Secretary of Labor, Tom knows that it takes to grow the economy. By giving taxpayer dollars to private schools, taking away health care from working Americans and displacing American workers, Republicans in Washington D.C. will get our economy off track. We can count on Tom to raise the money and recruit the Democratic candidates who will win in 2018 and get our economy back on track.

"I would also like to congratulate U.S. Rep. Keith Ellison on his unanimous election to Deputy Chairman of the DNC. Keith's campaign was based on 'Democrats United,' and that's what we'll see from him and Sec. Perez as they lead our party to victory in the mid-term elections.

“People are dismayed by what’s happening at our nation’s capitol and they know something needs to be done. I look forward to working with Tom and Keith in the coming months as we get people engaged in their communities, motivated to help Democratic candidates win and to the polls in 2018.”
