Chris Leavitt Joins Team Walker to Lead Virginia Efforts

Madison, Wis. – Ahead of Gov. Walker's Saturday visit to Virginia, Team Walker today announced the hire of veteran political operative Chris Leavitt.

He will serve as a political consultant to the organization, leading the campaign's charge in Virginia and in other states critical to winning the Republican nomination for president.

"It is a privilege to join Gov. Scott Walker's campaign for president," said Leavitt. "I believe Gov. Walker is the leader our country needs in the White House. He is a fighter, a winner, and he's proven time and time again that he won't back down in the face of a challenge. I look forward to the opportunity to build upon his already strong base of support, spread his winning message, and work toward victory in 2016."

Chris Leavitt served as campaign manager for Ed Gillespie's 2014 U.S. Senate run, and he managed State Sen. Mark Obenshain's 2013 campaign for Virginia Attorney General. Additionally, Leavitt previously managed U.S. Rep. Bob Goodlatte's campaign for Congress, Bryce Reeves' campaign for Virginia State Senate, and he served as political director for Sheriff Mike Bouchard's campaign for governor in Michigan.

Santorum completes his second "Full Grassley"

VERONA, PA - Winner of the 2012 Iowa Republican Presidential Caucus and former U.S. Senator Rick Santorum (R-PA) will complete his second "Full Grassley" on Tuesday, September 1st during a visit Lyon County.
 
The "Full Grassley," is named after U.S. Senator Chuck Grassley (R-IA) who visits each Iowa county each year.  Senator Santorum committed to following the lead of his former Senate colleague and visit each of Iowa's 99 counties during 2015.
 
During the 2012 campaign, Senator Santorum visited each of Iowa's 99 counties, completing the "Full Grassley" in early November 2011.  Santorum's pace and commitment to Iowa voters during the 2016 campaign has him two months ahead of his victorious pace of four years ago.
 
Senator Santorum's celebration in Rock Rapids, Iowa (Lyon County) is open to the public.

Cites Kasich’s Budget & National Security Experience as Essential for the Next President

Today former U.S. Senate Majority Leader Trent Lott (R-MS) endorsed Ohio Governor John Kasich for President, pointing to his success in putting conservative values to work to balance the budget in Washington and Ohio, as well as his deep national security policy experience and commitment to strengthening our military.  He will serve as a National Co-Chair on Kasich’s campaign.

"I’ve known John Kasich a long time and watched with pride and admiration as, time and again, he’s shown the world what conservative ideas can do to strengthen economies and make our country more secure.  His leadership on the House Budget Committee was essential to getting the federal budget balanced and he’s applied that same approach in Ohio and it’s brought his state back to life.  We need his keen budget mind in the White House to help get our federal budget reined in.  His long experience on national security and foreign policy is just as critical, and his call for a stronger military—especially a stronger Navy, and better allied relationships will help make our country safer as the world only becomes more dangerous.  I’m proud to join his team and I look forward to doing all I can to help him take back White House and strengthening our great nation,” said Lott.  
 
Lott served Mississippi for 35 years in Congress: 16 years in the U.S. House and 19 years in the U.S. Senate, and was elected by his colleagues to the positions of House Minority Whip, Senate Minority Whip, Senate Majority Whip, Senate Minority Leader and Senate Majority Leader.  He worked closely with seven different presidents and has played a leadership role in every major public policy issue of the past three decades.

Lott’s announcement today is Kasich’s second major endorsement by a Southern leader in a week, attesting to the broadening reach of Kasich’s conservative message to balance the budget, strengthen the military and bring Americans together.  Last week Kasich was endorsed by Alabama Gov. Robert Bentley, the only Southern governor to endorse in the Republican contest.

“Trent is a friend whom I respect and whose leadership has been of enormous benefit to our country.  He’s got a keen policy mind with experience across the full scope of federal issues and political wisdom that’s been honed in the trenches.  I’m humbled that he’s on our team and excited about the work we’re going to be able to do together to win this race and begin lifting up our nation for everyone,” said Kasich.

This policy forum—which is part of CVA's ‘Defend & Reform Series’—will highlight critical issues facing New Hampshire veterans, military families, and—by extension—all Americans.

CVA believes that veterans and military families deserve to hear—face-to-face—from America’s leading policy makers and stakeholders.While there are many who would like us to think that care for military veterans is getting better, they are wrong – it's getting worse. That is why now, more than ever, it is important to ask our policy leaders the questions that matter to the veteran community. With New Hampshire home to so many military families, it is imperative that CVA continues this national discussion with Senator Cruz in Milford this August.

Des Moines – This Wednesday, August 26th at 7:00pm CDT, O’Malley for Iowa will hold a statewide Day of Action with volunteers around the state hosting 30 house parties to highlight O’Malley’s 15 Goals to Rebuild the American Dream. Governor O’Malley will call-in to all of the parties to speak with Iowans around the state.
 
Following the well-received launch of Governor O'Malley's Rebuild the American Dream tour in Iowa last week, and marking his visit to his 30th county in Iowa this past weekend, this Day of Action will continue to build out the strong grassroots support for new leadership, and give caucusgoers a chance to learn more about Governor O’Malley’s bold and progressive policy proposals and record of getting things done.
