DNC Chair Statement on Tonight’s Democratic Debate
 
MILWAUKEE – DNC Chair Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz issued the following statement on tonight’s Democratic debate in Wisconsin:
 
“This was a serious and substantive debate worthy of the American people. At every Democratic debate so far, both Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton have been thoughtful and substantive, and the results are paying off - voter enthusiasm for our two candidates is surging across the country.
 
“Ideas and solutions on consumer protection, national security, economic mobility, and criminal justice reform were just some of the meaningful areas our two candidates discussed. Compared to the small tent, big circus debates Republicans have put on, full of crass, divisive rhetoric and backward-looking ideas, the contrast couldn’t be clearer. Tonight’s debate reinforced what Americans are seeing more and more every day, we need to elect a Democrat as our 45th president to keep America moving forward.”

WASHINGTON – Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairman Reince Priebus released the following statement at the conclusion of Thursday’s Democrat debate:
 
“Hillary Clinton needed a good debate after her 23-point loss in New Hampshire and she fell far short. Democrats are faced with an impossible choice: either a socialist who took his honeymoon in the Soviet Union or a serial flip-flopper under FBI investigation. Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton are eager to put President Obama’s failed agenda on steroids. Instead of putting forth a new direction for the country that would restore prosperity and confront radical Islamic terror, the Democrat primary has devolved into a race to the extreme left. Only a Republican in the White House will provide the clear-eyed policies and strong leadership America needs.”

MILWAUKEE, Wis. -- U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders on Friday will travel to Minnesota. The Democratic Party presidential candidate will participate in a forum at the Patrick Henry High School in Minneapolis and attend the Humphrey-Mondale Dinner in St. Paul. Sanders will discuss a wide range of issues, including getting big money out of politics, combating climate change and making college affordable.

HOUSTON, Texas – The Cruz for President campaign today launched a new TV ad, “Conservatives Anonymous,” illustrating how Marco Rubio has betrayed the trust of the American people by breaking his campaign promise to fight amnesty. Instead, once elected, Rubio worked closely with Democrat Senator Chuck Schumer and aggressively fought to pass the Gang of Eight amnesty bill in the Senate. This ad is the first in a series that will soon air focused on how conservatives have been betrayed by their elected officials in Washington, D.C. who fail to keep their promises to fight for conservative principles.

Today South Carolina State Representative Donna Hicks announced she has joined Governor John Kasich's presidential campaign as a member of the Kasich for America Steering Committee.
 
Said Hicks, "From my work in the legislature and as a small-business owner, I know that experience is the number-one ingredient for making a strong and effective leader. John Kasich’s impressive record as a budget-balancer in Congress and as twice-elected Governor of Ohio is more than enough to convince me that he has the experience and history of accomplishment we so sorely need in the White House.”
 
With her endorsement of John Kasich’s campaign, Hicks joins the ranks of fellow State Representatives Chip Limehouse, Jeffrey Bradley and Gary Clary; as well as State Senators Paul Campbell, Jr., Ray Cleary and Greg Gregory in supporting his candidacy.
 
A Boiling Springs resident and business owner, Hicks has twice been elected to the South Carolina House as representative from Spartanburg County.
