NEW HAMPSHIRE HOUSE MAJORITY LEADER JACK FLANAGAN THINKS JOHN KASICH SHOULD BE THE NEXT PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES
Today New Hampshire House Majority Leader Jack Flanagan (R-Brookline) announced that he is backing Ohio Gov. John Kasich for President. Rep. Flanagan cited Kasich’s success in creating a jobs-friendly climate to turn around Ohio’s economy and putting conservative budget policies to work at both the federal and state levels.
“The last time the federal government had a balanced budget was when John Kasich made it happen. He hasn’t been in Washington since and it hasn’t happened since. We need his leadership in the White House because Washington won’t work for us until we get a leader who puts good policy before partisanship. He’s put conservative ideas to work in Ohio to get the economy going again and he’s been able to work with people with other views to produce good results. America needs John Kasich’s kind of experience and leadership,” said Flanagan.
Flanagan is the New Hampshire House of Representatives Majority Leader and is serving his third term in the House. He previously served as selectman in the Town of Brookline, vice chair of the Hollis Brookline Cooperative School District and chair of the Brookline School Board. He is a retired small business person.
“I’m grateful to Jack for his support and for joining our effort to get America back on track fiscally, as well as to make it a safer, more unified place. Jack’s been a strong, sensible leader in New Hampshire and I value that kind of person on our team. He brings a deep knowledge of New Hampshire politics and an appreciation for the kinds of ideas that will get America going again. I’m glad he’s going to work as part of our team to help America rise again,” said Kasich.
First TV Ads Focus on Clinton as a Fighter for Families ~Pair of 60-second Spots to Air in Iowa and NH~
Hillary for America will begin airing the first two ads of the campaign on Tuesday in the early primary states of Iowa and New Hampshire. Both 60-second ads – “Dorothy” and “Family Strong”– combine to tell the story of Hillary Clinton as a tenacious fighter for families. In keeping with a theme from Clinton's launch speech in June, the ads ground Clinton's commitment to public service in the story of how her mother overcome her abandonment as a child due, in part, to the kindness of others.
“We’re going to make sure everyone knows who Hillary Clinton really is – who she fights for and what has motivated her lifelong commitment to children and families,” said Campaign Manager Robby Mook. “Since Day One, we’ve planned for a competitive primary with Hillary herself working to earn every vote and, ultimately, the nomination. This is the natural next step.”
The first ad, “Dorothy,” tells the story of Clinton’s mother whose tough childhood showed Clinton that every child – and every family – needs a champion. The second, “Family Strong,” documents her career fighting to make families stronger, from going door-to-door at the Children’s Defense Fund, to school reform in Arkansas, to health care for kids as First Lady, to support for 9/11 heroes as Senator and to her service as Secretary of State.
These ads are part of an initial five-week, approximately $1 million ad buy in each state plus additional digital advertising. In New Hampshire, the ads will run statewide - in the Boston/Manchester market and in the Burlington market. In Iowa, the ads will air in the state’s two largest media markets – Des Moines and Cedar Rapids. As of today, Republican candidates and their SuperPACS have spent or reserved $34 million in air time in the four early primary states.
Below is a script of the first ad – “Dorothy.”
Hillary Clinton: When I think about why I’m doing this I think about my mother Dorothy. She was abandoned by her parents at the age of eight, sent from Chicago to LA to live with grandparents who didn’t want her.
But people showed her kindness, gave her a chance. Like the teacher who saw my mother had no money for food and started bringing her extra from home whispering, ‘You know Dorothy, I just brought too much food today.’
She went to work in somebody else’s home at age 14 and it opened her eyes. For the first time she saw parents who loved and cared for their children. And that’s the kind of loving family she provided for us. When she needed a champion someone was there. I think about all the Dorothy’s all over America who fight for their families, who never give up.
That’s why I’m doing this. That’s why I’ve always done this. For all the Dorothy’s.
I’m Hillary Clinton and I approve this message.
Below is a script of the second ad – “Family Strong.” The ad is available here - https://youtu.be/NdKsA4q-FFA
Hillary Clinton: Her parents abandoned her when she was just eight years old. She was mistreated. But she never gave up, and she taught me to do the same.
My mom’s life and what she went through are big reasons why standing up for kids and families became such a big part of my life.
Voiceover: After law school she could have gone to a big firm but instead went to work for the Children’s Defense Fund.
In Arkansas, she fought for school reform to change lives forever.
Then as first lady she helped get health care for eight million kids.
You probably know the rest.
The senator who made sure the heroes and families of 9/11 got the care they needed.
The Secretary of State who joined the cabinet of the man who defeated her, because when your President calls you serve.
And now a new title: grandma.
Hillary Clinton: I believe that when families are strong America is strong.

Jim Webb Speaks to Veterans in Hudson, New Hampshire on Saturday, August, 15, 2015
Saturday Aug. 15 at 4 PM ET Jim Webb Speaks to Veterans Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5791 15 Bockes Rd, Hudson, NH 03051
HUDSON, N.H. – Jim Webb will deliver a speech outlining his positions on the economy, national security and veterans issues before of a crowd of New Englanders, many of whom will be military veterans, August 15 at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5791 in Hudson. The appearance will include a meet-and-greet with veterans as well as answering questions from the audience.
Webb, former Senator from Virginia, is seeking the Democratic Party’s nomination for the 2016 Presidential election. He has been a combat Marine, a counsel in the Congress, an assistant secretary of defense and Secretary of the Navy, an Emmy-award winning journalist, a film-maker, and the author of ten books.
Webb is the only military veteran seeking the Democratic nomination this year and the only combat veteran running in either party. His military awards include the second, third and fourth highest medals for valor. He was awarded the Navy Cross, the Silver Star, two Bronze Stars and two Purple Hearts for heroism while commanding a Marine rifle platoon and company in Vietnam.
Webb’s journalistic career included broad coverage in East and Southeast Asia, as well as time as a combat correspondent in Beirut during the Marine Corps deployment in 1983, for which he received a National Emmy Award, and as an embedded reporter in Afghanistan in 2004. Among his many books are Fields of Fire, widely considered the classic novel of the Vietnam War, and Born Fighting, a two-thousand year history of the Scots-Irish people that writer Tom Wolfe termed “the most brilliant battle flare ever launched by a book… an important work of sociological history.”
While in the Senate, Webb conceived, personally wrote and ushered through Congress the modern G.I. Bill, which has now benefited more than 1 million veterans. He also led a national effort to reform America’s criminal justice system.
This particular event is largely being organized by veterans who also served in Vietnam. They are the first of a grassroots group calling themselves Warriors for Webb.
The event is scheduled to begin Saturday at 4 p.m. Webb is expected to speak for about 20 minutes and then spend time with those in attendance.
NOTE: This event will take place at the Turbocam location at 863 Franklin Pierce Hwy on RTE 9 in Barrington, not to be confused with the other Turbocam location on RTE 125.
