Today, one of the most widely read Spanish-language publications in Iowa,  'El Latino,' endorsed Governor Martin O'Malley for President of the United States calling him “the most pro-Latino and pro-immigrant candidate in the history of this country.”

Key Point: "Martin O’Malley is someone who has led with humane principles of inclusion. To the Latino community, he offers actions not words...As a candidate, he was the first one to put forward the boldest and most humane immigration plan in this race. Iowa Latino Newspaper Endorses Martin O’Malley for President

The Latino vote in Iowa continues to grow and this year it seems that it could even make a bigger impact than before. After taking a close look at all of the democratic candidates running for President of The United States, our publication has decided to endorse the former Governor of Maryland, Martin O’Malley, as the next President of The United States.

Martin O’Malley is someone who has led with humane principles of inclusion. To the Latino community, he offers actions not words. As Governor of Maryland, O’Malley passed the ‘DREAM Act,’ gave driver licenses to the undocumented, kicked ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) out of the State, raised the minimum wage, invested in Latino small businesses and made Maryland public schools the best in the nation five years in a row. In addition, during the Central American refugee crisis in 2014, O’Malley mobilized his State to welcome over 5,150 refugee children that needed a home.

As a candidate, he was the first one to put forward the boldest and most humane immigration plan in this race. He was also the first one to call for an end to the mindless deportations that are separating our community. He is committed to shutting down all immigration detention centers and he will continue to denounce the massive immigration raids that currently are happening across the country. BALTIMORE, MD - Governor Martin O'Malley released the following statement on President Obama's State of the Union Address tonight:

"Thanks to President Obama’s remarkable leadership, our country has come a long way since the Wall Street crash of 2008, when millions of families lost their jobs and their homes. Tonight, the President offered an important message about the urgent work that lies ahead and the need to elect a successor who will build on his impressive legacy.

"That's why I am running for President. I have introduced bold, comprehensive goals to create more good-paying jobs, get wages going up again, rein in Wall Street, bring New American families out of the shadows, reform our criminal justice system, treat our growing addiction crisis, and power our economy with 100 percent clean, renewable energy. It's also why I have pledged to cut gun violence in half, because--as the President and First Lady have powerfully reminded us--there are far too many empty seats at tables across our nation due to this sickness that plagues our nation.

"Soon Americans will face a choice about who is best to candidate to defeat Republicans like Ted Cruz and Donald Trump, and to keep our country moving forward. We could return to old names and re-litigate the Washington battles of the past. Or we can embrace a new, forward-looking leader who has a record of delivering progressive results. Eight years ago we voted for change. As President Obama made clear tonight, now is not the time to turn back the clock.
