DES MOINES, IA – Tonight the Iowa Trump-Pence campaign released the following statements from Hawkeye State leaders reacting to Donald Trump’s victory in tonight’s first Presidential Debate held at Hofstra University in New York.

If memorizing talking points is what it takes to be president, Hillary is right, she has been practicing for years. It isn’t surprising Donald Trump was the clear winner of tonight’s debate considering how Hillary Clinton continued her pattern of dishonesty and failed to fully explain her long history of unethical behavior." “Hillary Clinton exceeded all expectations tonight with a clear vision and comprehensive plans to move our country forward and create an economy that works for everyone, not just those at the top. Donald Trump continued his campaign built upon baseless claims, unfounded exaggerations and conspiracy theories. Trump proved once again tonight that he is completely unfit and unprepared to lead our country. Hillary Clinton is prepared to be President of the United States on day one.

“Donald Trump met expectations by failing to provide detailed plans to address the serious issues facing our country. We cannot trust a candidate who responds to difficult questions with knee-jerk reactions and flippant remarks.

“There was only one candidate on tonight’s stage with the judgment, temperament and demeanor to be President of the United States. And that candidate was Hillary Clinton.”
