IDP Celebrates Supreme Court’s Health Care Decision
 
Des Moines—Iowa Democratic Party Chair Dr. Andy McGuire released the following statement following the Supreme Court’s ruling to protect the subsides that allow tens of thousands of Iowans to purchase health insurance through the Affordable Care Act:
 
“Once again, the Supreme Court ruled in favor of the tens of thousands of Iowans receiving health care because of the Affordable Care Act.  Never again shall we return to the days when you could be denied health coverage because of a pre-existing condition, or be charged more for health insurance merely because of your gender. Every Iowan deserves access to quality, affordable health care.
 
“The time for political posturing on the issue from the 2016 GOP field and Republicans across Iowa is well past its expiration date. The Republicans coming to our state with no message beyond repeal and denying health care to thousands of Iowans must stop. Now, Iowans will continue to move forward to ensure all of our families can live safe and healthy lives."

BURLINGTON, Vt. – U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders on Thursday announced plans for a three-day swing through Iowa. A July 2 town meeting at Iowa Central Community College kicks off the trip which also includes stops in Sioux City, Sheldon, Storm Lake, Denison, Council Bluffs, Creston and Waukee.

Mark  Everson is a former IRS commissioner from 2003 to 2007.  Mr. Everson has held federal positions in the administrations of George W. Bush and Ronald Reagan.  In 2009 he joined Alliantgroup.  He has officially announced his bid for the Republican presidential nomination.

Dinner includes hamburger or brat, chips, ice cream and drink.

On Friday June 26, U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar will campaign on behalf of Hillary Clinton’s campaign in eastern Iowa. On her visit to the Hawkeye State, Klobuchar will meet with Iowa women in Davenport and speak at the Clinton County Democrats’ Hall of Fame dinner.  During her swing, Klobuchar will speak with Iowans about why Hillary Clinton is the candidate who will fight for everyday Iowans to build an economy for tomorrow, strengthen America’s families, defend America and our core values, and revitalize our democracy. Clinton was recently in Iowa for events in Sioux City, Des Moines and Burlington.

Amy Klobuchar is the first woman elected to represent the State of Minnesota in the United States Senate.  As a member of the Senate agriculture committee, she has worked to pass two farm bills that are key to agriculture in both Iowa and Minnesota. Her work in the Senate has gained national recognition.

GOVERNOR JEB BUSH TO HEADLINE ANNUAL STORY COUNTY GOP DINNER

Nevada, IA – The Republican Party of Story County announced today that Governor Jeb Bush will be the keynote speaker for the fifth annual Judge Joseph Story Dinner. This will be the first visit to Story County by the former Governor of Florida. This special dinner will take place at Prairie Moon Winery in Ames on Monday, July 13, 2015 with doors opening at 5:30 p.m.

Governor Bush was governor of the state of Florida from 1999-2007 when he cut taxes to a total of $19 billion—all while growing the state budget reserves by $8 billion, implemented the first statewide voucher program, created 1.3 million new jobs, and helped Florida achieve it’s first ever AAA bond rating.

“We are thrilled to give Story County voters a chance to see Governor Jeb Bush,” said Brett Barker, Story County GOP Chairman. “Governor Bush was a very successful and popular governor who instituted significant conservative reforms while Governor of the State of Florida.”

The dinner is an annual tradition to celebrate Judge Joseph Story. Judge Story served on the United States Supreme Court from 1811-1845 and is the namesake of Story County.

A limited number discounted advance tickets for the dinner are available for $30 by July 9.

A private VIP reception with Governor Bush will also take place at Prairie Moon Winery before dinner. There are a very limited number of tickets available for $100.
