Hillary for Iowa Announces Iowa Veterans and Military Families for Hillary
Des Moines -- Hillary for Iowa is unveiling Iowa Veteran and Military Families for Hillary today. This group includes 54 Iowans who have served our nation in the armed services and are supporting Hillary Clinton for president.
Clinton has fought for veterans and military families throughout her entire career, and has put forth a comprehensive plan to support veteran and military families as president. She knows that we are stronger when we work with our allies around the world to keep us safe, and has put forward real plans to deal with the threat of ISIS and broader terror threats.
On the other hand, Donald Trump prefers to attack Gold Star families and war heroes. He has fired multiple employees because of their military service, has repeatedly lied about donations to veterans’ charities, and scammed veterans and military families through Trump University.
Trump has shown he is not up to the job and that he is temperamentally unfit and unqualified to be Commander in Chief. Trump suggests that more countries should have nuclear weapons, including Saudi Arabia, and continues to praise dictators like Vladimir Putin while picking fights with our allies around the world.
“I served for 16 years in U.S. Congress, 12 years in the Iowa State Senate, and more than 20 years in the U.S. Army, which included two tours of duty in Vietnam and two tours of duty on NATO assignments in Europe. I love this country," said former Congressman Leonard Boswell. "The United States is an exceptional nation, and America's greatness requires diplomatic and military leadership within the complex world we live in. I, along with many, many others have given my life to public service. I love this country and for that reason I believe our country and the world will be best served by Hillary Clinton. She has the experience and the steady hand to make the tough calls, and will be ready to serve this country on day one. She never backs down, she never gives up, and she's a fighter who knows how to win the tough fights."
“As someone who knows what it means to serve my country, I have never felt more strongly about someone like Hillary being ready on day one to serve as our Commander in Chief,” said Marc Wallace, U.S. Army Intelligence Corps and Iowa National Guard veteran of Des Moines. “Trump is erratic, vindictive and thin-skinned. He praises dictators, trash talks America and threatens to abandon our allies. His dangerous rhetoric and dangerous policy proposals play into the hands of terrorists. It’s not a choice between a Democrat and a Republican, but between a responsible leader like Hillary Clinton who will keep us safe, and a volatile man like Donald Trump who threatens our security.”
“Supporting our country’s veterans is a sacred responsibility, and Hillary Clinton is the only candidate for president who takes that responsibility seriously,” said Graci Orozco, an Army veteran of Dallas County. “Hillary Clinton has laid out clear plans to expand mental health treatment for veterans and as president, she will ensure veterans have access to timely and high quality health care. When Hillary says that she believes we are stronger together, she is saying that she will do everything she can to honor and recognize the extraordinary sacrifice veteran and military families have made -- and that is why I am with her.”
