Iowa Democratic Party Statement on Tonight’s Vice Presidential Debate

DES MOINES--Iowa Democratic Party Chair, Dr. Andy McGuire issued the following statement on Tim Kaine’s performance during tonight’s vice presidential debate:

"Tonight it was clear that Hillary Clinton and Tim Kaine is the only presidential ticket with a clear, comprehensive plan to continue the fight against terrorism. Clinton and Kaine will keep our country safe without discriminatory policies that sacrifice our core values. We must create stronger alliances with our allies in order to share intelligence and work together against our enemies.

“Trump alienates our allies with his statements that NATO is obsolete. The Clinton/Kaine ticket respects all members of our military, our veterans and their families. Donald Trump abandoned support for our military by not paying his fair share of taxes after 9/11, the worst terrorist attack in our nation’s history.

"Donald Trump has spent his entire career degrading and exploiting others for his own personal gain. Donald Trump is a bully, not a genius. And we cannot allow him to bully his way into the White House."
