Hillary for Iowa Announces the Launch of “Iowa Women Win” Group
Today, August 18, Hillary for Iowa announced the launch of “Iowa Women Win,” a group of more than 200 Iowa women who are committed to promoting Democratic female candidates up and down the ticket. The announcement comes on the 96th Anniversary of the 19th Amendment, which granted women the right to vote.
This election there is a historically large number of Democratic women candidates running for office across the state. In addition to Hillary Clinton’s historic candidacy, Iowa has women candidates running for U.S. Senate, U.S. House of Representatives, and a record number of women are running for state legislative office.
Members of Iowa Women Win have committed to taking an action to elect women from the White House to the courthouse by phone banking, door knocking, letter writing, or hosting a grassroots organizing event.
Last week, the group held its inaugural event in Marion, Iowa with guest speakers Andy McGuire, U.S. House Candidate Monica Vernon, State Senator Liz Mathis, and Iowa House Candidate Molly Donahue. Additional Iowa Women Win events will be held in all corners of the state over the course of the next few months.
Iowa Women Win includes more than 200 women, including nearly two dozen State Legislators, County Chairs, and local elected officials.
