Republican Party of Minnesota Chairman Keith Downey issues statement regarding Minnesota's Caucus process
(Minneapolis, Minn.) – Republican Party of Minnesota Chairman Keith Downey issued the following statement regarding Minnesota's Presidential selection process.
"The legislature passed the current process into law, and it is clearly their purview to consider changing it. And I am very amenable to a discussion with the legislature about how to improve it." said Chairman Downey. "The critique is legitimate of the system in law right now that tries to jam an entire statewide election into one room for one hour in every precinct. However, blaming Hillary Clinton's crushing defeat in Minnesota on the caucus system is not a good reason to change it. If there are sincere efforts and legitimate ways to improve how we do things, we are very willing to be part of the discussions, but the caucuses shouldn't be scapegoated for Clinton's horrible performance in Minnesota."
