KASICH ANNOUNCES NEW ADDITIONS TO NATIONAL SECURITY ADVISORY GROUP
Today Kasich for America announced 25 new members to Gov. John Kasich’s national security advisory group, drawing upon some of America’s leading national security, foreign policy, cyber security and homeland security experts.
The new participants join Kasich's national security team in advising the campaign on policy development, and providing insight and comment based on their experience.
John Kasich served for 18 years on the U.S. House Armed Services Committee, where he was a key supporter of President Reagan’s defense build-up, and led efforts to crack down on contractors overcharging the military for parts and supplies. He helped guide the passage of the landmark Goldwater-Nichols legislation that aligned the Pentagon command structure for the post-Cold War threat environment and was instrumental in creating the U.S. Special Operations Command.
John Kasich has laid out the most detailed defense spending proposal of any candidate, calling for $5.4 trillion in funds over the next eight years—$102 billion more than current levels.
He was one of the first to call for the U.S. to join its European and Mideast allies in a coalition to defeat ISIS and was one of the first to call for no-fly zones and safe havens in Syria to stem the humanitarian crisis driving the flow of refugees into Europe.
The growing support that Kasich is receiving from America’s national security establishment reflects the expertise that he brings to the issue and which he continues to demonstrate, as in last Saturday’s debate.
