WASHINGTON  – Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairman Reince Priebus issued the following statement on the Republican debate in Des Moines, Iowa:
 
“Our debates continue to showcase the most well-qualified and diverse set of candidates in the history of either party,” said Chairman Priebus. “The record level of viewership our debates have drawn is a testament not only to our tremendous field, but also the unmatched enthusiasm of conservatives across the country ready to take our country back.
 
“While our candidates put forth serious proposals to grow the economy and keep America safe, the Democrats are engaged in a contest of who will tax more, spend more, and empower Washington more. Americans want to turn the page on President Obama’s failed economic policies and weak foreign policy, but all Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders are promising is more of the same. Only a Republican president can provide the new direction America urgently needs.”
