Rand Paul to Appear on West Virginia Ballot
WASHINGTON, D.C.- U.S. Senator and Republican presidential candidate Rand Paul officially filed as a candidate in the West Virginia primary today. Ravenswood Mayor and West Virginia House of Delegates member Michael Ihle (Jackson) filed with the West Virginia Secretary of State on behalf of Sen. Paul.
Mayor Michael Ihle issued a formal endorsement immediately following the filing:
"In a crowded field of candidates in which almost no one demonstrates a serious commitment to individual liberty or cutting government spending across the board. Rand Paul stands alone. This is why I stand with Rand.
No candidate is more committed to stopping the Washington overreach which has devastated West Virginia's coal and manufacturing industries than Rand Paul. He is the only candidate who consistently defends the entire Bill of Rights, including the Tenth Amendment, which empowers states to stand up to Washington. Sen. Paul has also committed to repeal the EPA's job-killing Clean Power Plan.
Through his principled defense of economic and religious liberty, only Sen. Rand Paul is sincerely dedicated to West Virginia's state motto: 'Montani Semper Liberi' ('Mountaineers Are Always Free')."
