Former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright to Campaign for Hillary Clinton Across Eastern Iowa
On January 16 and January 17, Former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright will campaign on behalf of Hillary Clinton across Eastern Iowa. Secretary Albright will meet with Hillary for Iowa volunteers and supporters in Clinton, Dubuque, Decorah, Waterloo, North Liberty, and Cedar Rapids to discuss what’s at stake in this election and Hillary Clinton’s commitment to fighting for women and families both at home and around the world, a fight Clinton and Albright have long shared.
The first woman to serve as Secretary of State, Albright will also discuss Clinton’s work to elevate gender equality as a key pillar of U.S. foreign policy, advance women’s economic empowerment, champion programs to prevent and respond to gender-based violence, and spearhead public-private partnerships to improve the status of women and girls. In 1995, then-First Lady Clinton and then-United Nations Ambassador Madeleine Albright led the U.S. delegation to the UN Fourth World Conference on Women in Beijing, where Clinton proclaimed that “women’s rights are human rights.”
