“This week, President Obama declared that the State of our Union is strong. After seven years of Democratic leadership in the White House, our country is more secure than ever, the economy is adding jobs at a record pace, and the American people are safer and healthier. Tonight, the Republican candidates that took the stage painted a different and uglier picture of America.

“They denied the progress we’ve made under the leadership of President Obama and continued to use fear to divide us. Make no mistake, these ideas presented by the Republicans would drag us back to the failed policies that crashed the economy and destabilized the Middle East in the first place. The American people have come too far and fought too hard to go back.

“Tonight’s debate proved once again that only the Democrats have serious and substantive candidates who understand what it takes to continue investing in America’s families and keep our country moving forward.”
