RNC Issues the Call of the 2016 Republican National Convention
WASHINGTON – The Republican National Committee today issued the Call of the 2016 Convention officially directing that a national convention be convened in Cleveland, Ohio. The convention begins on July 18, 2016 for the purpose of nominating candidates for President and Vice President to be voted for in the presidential election on November 8, 2016 and for transactions on other business of the Party.
“On behalf of the Republican National Committee, I am proud to officially issue the Call of the 2016 Convention," said Chairman Priebus. “I would like to thank Rob Gleason for his hard work as the Chair of the Committee on the Call, as well as the other Committee members in assisting in issuing the final Call of the Convention."
The Call of the Convention includes the text of the rules relating to the convening and the proceedings of the national convention, in addition to the official delegate count for each state.
The Call includes a final delegate count reflecting updated totals in Kentucky and Louisiana following this November’s elections. The Call also notifies the states that do not bind their RNC members that the RNC will bind those members at convention. The unbound RNC members will be bound in the same manner as the state’s at-large delegates, unless the state elects their delegates on the primary ballot, then all three RNC members will be allocated to the statewide winner.
