Dr. Ben Carson Announces State Senator Mike Shirkey State Chair for Michigan
Alexandria, VA – November 3, 2015 - Today, Dr. Ben Carson, retired neurosurgeon and 2016 GOP presidential candidate, announced that the Honorable Mike Shirkey will serve as his campaign’s Michigan State Chair. Shirkey, who represents the Sixteenth District in the Michigan Senate, will lead Dr. Carson’s grassroots efforts in the Great Lakes State.
Sen. Shirkey’s district includes Jackson, Hillsdale and Branch counties in south-central Michigan. The Senator serves as Chair of the Senate Health Policy and Michigan Competitiveness committees, and is a member of the Elections and Government Reform and Energy and Technology committees. He also serves as the Vice Chair for the Appropriations Subcommittee for Community Health. Sen. Shirkey was elected to the Michigan Senate in 2014 after serving four years in the Michigan House of Representatives.
Sen. Shirkey is a founder and owner of Orbitform, a leading engineering company that manufactures forming, fastening, joining and assembly equipment for a wide range of industries and applications.
