Chris Christie Officially Files To Be On Ballots in Alaska And Vermont
MORRISTOWN, NJ - Governor Christie’s campaign has officially filed candidacy papers and signatures to be on the ballots in Alaska and Vermont.
“I am honored to be on the ballot in both of these important states thanks to the hard work of our volunteers and supporters who helped collect signatures,” said Governor Christie. “Over the next few months, I will be working hard on the campaign trail to talk to voters about the tough issues our country faces like America’s role in the world, our entitlement crisis and the addiction epidemic to earn their support.”
In Alaska, the campaign submitted signatures from Republicans in 18 legislative districts across the state to qualify for the Alaska Republican Party’s Presidential Preference Poll ballot. On March 1, 2016, Republicans across Alaska will cast their votes for a presidential candidate. The candidates who garner at least 13 percent support will proportionally receive Alaska’s 25 bound delegates to the Republican National Convention to be held in Cleveland, Ohio, July 18 to 21, 2016.
In Vermont, the campaign collected over 1500 signatures to be on the ballot. Governor Christie is only the second Republican candidate certified to be on the ballot in the state of Vermont.
The Vermont Republican primary will take place on March 1, 2016. Candidates who receive at least 20 percent of the vote statewide will be awarded Vermont’s 13 bound delegates proportionally. If a candidate receives more than 50 percent of the vote, Vermont is winner-take-all.
In addition to Vermont and Alaska, Governor Christie is already on the ballot in Alabama, New Hampshire, South Carolina, Nevada, Florida, Michigan, and Arkansas.
