Chris Christie Files Petitions To Be On The Ballot In Virginia
MORRISTOWN, NJ - Today, Governor Christie officially submitted more than 10,000 signatures with the Virginia Department of Elections to be on the ballot for the Virginia Presidential Primary.
“Virginia is an important state for any candidate running for president and I am grateful to all of our volunteers and supporters who worked hard to get on the ballot,” said Governor Christie. “These are serious times and I will continue to work hard on the campaign trail to talk to voters about the tough issues facing our country like ensuring our national security.”
The Christie campaign submitted more than 10,000 signatures from voters all throughout Virginia. In order to qualify for Virginia’s presidential primary, candidates must submit the valid signatures of more than 5,000 voters, at least 200 from each of the state’s 11 congressional districts. Only five other Republican candidates have submitted signatures to qualify to be one the ballot. The Virginia Presidential Primary will be held on March 1, 2016.
In addition to Virginia, Governor Christie is already on the ballot in Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Florida, Iowa, Michigan, Nevada, New Hampshire, South Carolina, and Vermont.
