Dr. Ben Carson Files for Republican Presidential Ballot in Alabama
Alexandria, Va. - October 16, 2015 - Today, Dr. Ben Carson filed for the ballot of the GOP presidential primary to be held in the State of Alabama on March 1, 2016.
On behalf of her husband, Mrs. Candy Carson submitted the filing with over 750 signatures and the requisite $10,000 fee at the Alabama Republican Party offices in Birmingham. Also present to mark the occasion were Alabama Republican Party Chairman Terry Lathan and Republican National Committee Co-Chair Sharon Day.
“I’m pleased to submit my filing for Alabama,” said Dr. Carson. “Our campaign looks forward to fielding and competing for all of the delegates awarded by this state on March 1."
The Ben Carson campaign had reached out to its supporters in Alabama to help defray the filing fee, and it successfully raised $10,000.
“I am very grateful to the voters of Alabama for their continued support,” added Dr. Carson. “Together, we will Heal, Inspire and Revive this country.”
Alabama will send a total of 50 delegates to the 2016 Republican National Convention. Of those, 47 will be decided by the voters of Alabama at the primary on March 1, 2016, and the remaining three are representatives of Alabama on the Republican National Committee.
