Alexandria, Va. - October 30, 2015 - Today, Dr. Ben Carson, retired neurosurgeon and Republican presidential candidate, filed for the ballot of Nevada’s “First in the West Presidential Caucus” to be held on February 23, 2016.
Dr. Carson’s son and daughter-in-law, Ben Carson, Jr. and Merlynn Carson, respectively, submitted the filing on Dr. Carson’s behalf. It was accepted by Nevada Republican Party Vice Chair Jim DeGraffenreid at the Carson campaign’s Reno office. The filing coincided with Nevada Day, which is an annual holiday commemorating Nevada’s admission to statehood.
“I am pleased to file for the ballot in Nevada on Nevada Day. I would like to thank all the hard-working men and women in Nevada who showed their support to get us on the ballot,” said Dr. Carson. “I look forward to continuing to engage with Nevadans, and to sharing with them my solutions and vision for the country.”
Nevada will send 30 delegates to the Republican National Convention to be held in Cleveland, Ohio, from July 18 to 21, 2016. All 30 delegates will be proportionally awarded to presidential candidates based on the support they receive in the statewide caucus on February 23, 2016.
